The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the EDI engineering team, including directing, coordinating and exercising authority for planning, organization, development and delivery of EDI & Integration products.

The Engineering Manager will lead programs and develop capabilities to achieve timely completion of global solutions across the Maersk estate for applications, customers, integration partners, and strategic priorities.

Team members are comprised of colleagues with various disciplines and backgrounds, staffed from a global standpoint and operating in a near virtual development model. This specific position focus on global compliance and regulatory integration specializations.

Key responsibilities


•Lead an engineering team and culture to deliver current demands of global governments and regulatory agencies compliance demands while modernizing our approach and delivering with a focus on standardization and simplicity
•Driving an ownership mentality in a DEVSECOPS way of working, best practices and Maersk strategic direction
•Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the EDI Engineering organization; evolving and reengineering processes
•Coordinate and direct implementation projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing technical activities against tight deadlines as defined by our customers
•Manage and own capabilities and integration solutions as products
•Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; forecast allocation of resources
•Line manager of 12-18 engineering colleagues; responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees followed by continuous development of capabilities
•Reviews department objectives for adequacy and consistency with corporate objectives
•Plans and formulates EDI engineering global initiatives and builds teams for success
•Coordinates all customer & partner integration solutions, acting as the technical lead
•Drives towards permanent corrective action plans to resolve any outstanding issues related to quality, production systems, infrastructure and trading partner solutions
•Coordinate all EDI engineering changes and approvals to meet customer deadlines
•Evaluate technical software and hardware requirements for end to end solutioning
•Liaise with vendors for resources, software and capabilities
•Promote and enforce a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with applicable legislation and company policies and procedures; living the company values
•Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality and cost to maintain profitability and competitiveness
•Accountable for detailed analysis & sizing of requirements for integration programs
•Establishing and managing effective communications with the stakeholders
•Full end to end management of solutions with a focus on customer experience
•Risk, issue and dependency management across the platform
•Managing capabilities and service levels in accordance with agreed SLAs

Primary Internal & External Stakeholders
•EDI & Platform organizational leadership and management
•Maersk Integration & EDI teams as well as associated programs, platforms and global strategic initiatives
•Business Process Owners, Product Owners, Solution consumers, Integration partners
•Business Partners, 3rd party Vendors, 3PLs, 4PLs, Client representatives, Software providers

We are looking for


Greater than 5 years of IT experience in Engineering, Integrations or Delivery Management in a complex, cross application, multi-functional environment
EDI & Integrations experience preferred or working knowledge of the internal Maersk applications and business systems.
5 years industry experience – ocean, logistics, services, or similar highly preferred
3 years regulatory or compliance functional experience, working with agencies and cross platform & business compliance teams
Various methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Prince2, PMP certification preferred; evidence of previous methodology usage required.
Involvement in maintaining solution standards, partner migrations, and new application integration preferred

Technical skills
In depth understanding of iterative software development and various methodologies such as DEVOPS, Waterfall, Kanban, and hybrid models, CI/CD
EDI standards familiarity - ANSI X12 & EDIFACT – XML schemas, positional flat-file and UDF
MFT protocols & communication, client & server – FTP, SFTP, AS2, SMTP, HTTPS
Certificate management, encryption
Java, JSON, SQL familiarity
API / Webservices SOAP / REST familiarity
EDI data integration and transformation tools – one or more of the following: SeeBurger, Oracle B2B, AI/AMPS, OpenText, Sterling
Project planning (e.g. MS Project, Gannt, Milestone, PERT, WBS)
Atlassian suite – Confluence & Jira or similar
Tactical & Strategic planning with cost/benefit estimation
Business Requirement and Scope management
Application & integration process monitoring

Negotiation and buy-in, balancing short term commitments vs long term strategy
Planning & Delivery, Change management engagement
Managing / motivating / coaching / mentoring colleagues, both direct and matrixed reports
