Our team
The Journey Intelligence team vision is to provide transparency on potential delays for key milestones of the customer journey, and is currently working on predicting the vessel arrival time. This is helping our customers plan trucks, warehouse staffing and communicating reliably to their customers based on a live evaluation of their container's journey.
The team is cross functional; engineers, data scientists, data engineers and UXers are involved in design decisions and bringing new features to our customers.
We try to drive new features based on customer insights and direct conversations with our customers through agile practices, and we strive to automate processes wherever possible. The team run and own all components from data ingestion and ML pipelines to serving an API. Although the position is for a backend engineer, we generally encourage team members to contribute across multiple disciplines.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Work in a cross functional product team
- Put users first: our users define the product we create.
- Own the product: the product must be ours so we can make the right decisions
- Design, write and test clean code using design patterns and best practices
- Focus on code quality, maintainability, scalability, security and performance
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement and task estimation.
What we are looking for
Must have:
- 5+ years of experience in developing backend solutions in Java and scripting languages (ex: Python and NodeJS)
- Experience in running containerized application on Kubernetes or similar technology
- Development and deployments on cloud infrastructure
- Solid written and verbal communication skills and able to articulate technical
complexity to be understood by both technical and non-technical personnel
- User-focused, whether responding to support queries or developing new
features and functionality
- Experience in using continuous integration/continuous delivery
- Experience of test-driven development (TDD)
Nice to have:
- Experience of event-driven systems such as Kafka
- Experience of Graph Database design and structures
- Experience of Pair Programming
- Experience on Serverless Architecture
- Experience on Apache Spark
