Supports the business and IT project teams with early and rapid prototyping. Assists with driving the process to gather requirement and understand user needs, business needs, and stakeholder requirements. Designs usable and intuitive solutions for internal- and external-facing user interfaces on various platforms. Verifies usability of proposed solutions. APM Terminals


The Maersk group operates one of the most comprehensive marine container terminals networks in the world, under the brand of APM Terminals, with over 20,000 employees operating 76 terminals in 36 countries and growing.


APM Terminals (APMT) plays a critical role in enabling the global Maersk Ocean and Logistics network as well as serving other Shipping Lines, Beneficial Cargo Owners, Freight Forwarders, intermodal logistics providers and integrating with a wide variety of local port authorities, customs and government bodies across our global network of transhipment, import and export gateway terminals.


In support of the broader Maersk strategy, we are accelerating the transformation of our business from a portfolio of independently operated terminals, into a safer, better, bigger global terminals operator.


This transformation is enabled by an ambitious programme to modernise our technology landscape, digitise our operations and our customers’ experience and optimise our end-to-end operations and customers’ journeys through automation, digitised assets and data analytics.


In support of this strategy, we are implementing a new technology organisation across APMT that will accelerate this journey by strengthening our internal engineering and data analytics capabilities and further embed an agile DevSecOPS operating model at scale.


APMT - Customer Products & Services Platform Portfolio


As part of this new technology organisation a new global Customer Products & Services platform portfolio team has been created with a variety of roles being recruited across architecture, design, full stack DevSecOPS engineering and agile delivery at scale.


The Customer Products & Services platform portfolio team has end-to-end accountability for all data and technology enabled customer outcomes and enabling commercial capabilities across the APM Terminals business.


This directly supports APM Terminals ambitious growth strategy built on a customer-centric focus which will deliver industry leading customer care, commercial excellence and added-value products & services that help our customers optimize their own supply chains.


This is enabled by an integrated portfolio of platforms and products across digital customer channels, gate solutions, data products & services, customer self-service, sales, marketing, customer care, contract management, pricing, order to cash, customer master data management and 360 view of customer analytics.

What is the Role


The Sr User Experience Designer will lead research, ideation and design, whilst leading other designers of the Self Service and Ecommerce product group within APM Terminals. You will be responsible for the creation of innovative customer experiences across a wide variety of channels and devices. From the initial definition stages, requirements gathering and user experience strategy, through to the final experience design, you will be accountable for the creation of the highest quality user experience deliverables.


You will work in an autonomous and collaborative manner, leading team members in collaboration with other disciplines. You will act as an ambassador of UX, helping to embed the UX Design process both within the technology organisation and within other areas of the business.


As a Sr UX Designer, you will be working across the design cycle, helping generate a detailed understanding of our users' needs, collaboratively generating conceptual and detailed designs, and validating them for e-commerce and self service web platform for APM Terminals business.

Working closely with the APM Terminals digital product teams, you will be responsible for creating the standards and methodologies needed to deliver products at scale, whilst applying the creativity needed to set APM Terminals digital products apart from its competitors.



You'll also be part of a larger experience design community inside Maersk global experience design community, working alongside our organizational owners, service designers, user researchers, engineering teams, and more. You will conceptualize both incremental and disruptive change, supporting those concepts with evidence of viability.


We are looking for


In summary, you will need to:


  • Take conceptual ideas and define them into a useful and valuable product experience.


  • Work independently with direction from the Product Owner and the team.


  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, and other partners to craft an intuitive, cohesive, and delightful experiences from product conception to launch.


  • Rapidly develop site maps, user flows, wireframes, mocks, and production-ready specs. You will be responsible for the entire design process for your team.


  • Collaborate with the rest of the design community within Maersk to ensure a consistent and cohesive experience across Maersk products.


  • Ensure product design deliverables adhere to high design standards.


  • Provide and solicit feedback from other designers to continually raise the bar of quality.


  • Contribute and be an active participant in the evolution of Maersk’s design system.


  • Build a deep understanding and passion for the core user challenges that we are trying to solve.


  • Experience in partnering with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders to identify user research needs and conduct usability tests.


  • Conduct user research and share insights with the product team.



  • BA/BS in HCI, Product Design, or a related field.


  • 5 years of experience with responsive desktop and mobile experiences, product, interaction, and information design.


  • An understanding of user-centered design principles.


  • Produce pixel perfect and ready to develop UI design


  • Expert knowledge of any of these design tools: Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD and InVision; coding skills is a plus.


  • Experience working in an agile development process and/or Iterative UX environment a plus.


  • Experience working with design systems a plus.


  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints when designing for multiple platforms.


  • Proven ability to collaborate and to communicate ideas and design rationale.


  • A strong and clean visual design sense.


  • Be happy in an environment that is undergoing large change.
