Senior Test Engineer to operate an accredited mechanical testing laboratory for advanced composite materials
Fiberline Composites, a world-leading company in the fast-developing technology of pultrusion, is seeking a Senior Test Engineer for Mechanical Testing of advanced Composite Materials at its Technology Center in Middelfart, Denmark.
Fiberline Composites is a market developing and knowledge-based manufacturing company strategically focused on the wind turbine industry and a world-leading supplier of advanced carbon- and glassfiber composite materials for the most critical load-bearing structures of wind turbine blades.
As an important aspect of our global strategy and the way we service our customers and market, we are currently building a fully equipped, state-of-the-art, mechanical testing facility with the aim of establishing this as an accredited certification laboratory for pultruded advanced composite materials.
The Senior Test Engineer will play a key role in establishing and operating this facility, establishing and executing Standard Operating Procedures, and obtaining and maintaining accreditation.
To be considered for this role, you will hold an advanced degree or equivalent experience in Mechanics, Materials Science, Composites or similar field with emphasis on mechanics of materials and have strong expertise in mechanical testing of advanced composite materials.
To maintain accredited test data and -result integrity, you will operate the test facility independently. You will report organizationally within the Composites Engineering & Mechanics team and work alongside a strong team of dedicated professionals in Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Science and Project Management.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct and oversee static and dynamic mechanical testing of advanced composite materials to the highest standards of testing quality.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for testing, documentation and reporting according to ISO 17025.
- Manage laboratory workflow and coordinate with internal and external customers to ensure on-time delivery of test results.
- Work in close collaboration with technicians for efficient execution of sample preparation and high-quality mechanical testing.
- Provide advice to specialists in Composites Mechanics and Engineering on proper choice of test strategy for optimal materials property validation.
- Evaluate failure modes of test specimens to ascertain test validity and enhance customer service.
- Program test equipment and ascertain data quality and validity.
- Report and manage data.
- Maintain knowledge of newest methods in materials mechanics testing and develop improved sample preparation and testing methods as appropriate.
- Provide expert advice to the company on novel and improved mechanical testing methodology for the continuous improvement of the lab and collaborate with external experts as necessary.
- Develop and manage test machine maintenance plans and troubleshoot device failures.
- Provide accredited mechanical testing services to all Fiberline global manufacturing sites as needed and directed by
- Composites Engineering and Mechanics leadership.
Your profile
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Mechanics, Materials Science or similar field with emphasis on mechanics of materials.
- Strong experience and expertise in mechanical testing of advanced composite materials and an ambition to master a multitude of mechanical test methods (tensile, compression, fatigue, ILS etc.).
- Good understanding of Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Fatigue, Failure Analysis, Fracture Mechanics etc.
- Strong familiarity with materials testing standards.
- Strong familiarity with mechanical testing equipment.
- Knowledge of statistics related to testing.
- Good IT skills within data processing.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with ISO 17025 is a strong plus.
- Excellent ability to compile technical reports.
- Experience with fatigue calculations.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work well independently.
