Thales has been involved in Danish projects since 1973, and now due to the significance of the Group’s activities and the market outlooks in the country, Thales has since established a formal regional office in Copenhagen in January 2015. Thales has delivered the Danish Travelcard system and is in charge of its operation and maintenance for the next 10 years. Moreover, it is Thales’ hope to further enhance the system with the latest technologies, like mobile phone and account-based functionalities.
Test engineer for one of the largest IT Projects in Denmark
Do you want to be part of the integration of external interfaces into one of the largest and most unique projects in Denmark influencing millions of people? And would you like to have a significant role in the Test and Commissioning team, where you can write one of the largest IT infrastructure projects in the Danish country on your CV?
The project
Thales Denmark A/S, with its partners, has been tasked by BDK to upgrade the railway signaling system in Jutland to an IT-based signaling system. The project consists of an update of approx. 1,200 km of the Danish railway network for the new European Train Control System (ETCS Level 2). We are strengthening our Test & Commissioning team with an additional Test Engineer.
Reporting to the Test and Commissioning Manager, and as part of a team of test engineers, you will be responsible for performing the tasks needed in relation to:
These are very important tasks in order to provide a fully functional signalling system in Jutland according to the contracts service level goals.
The head office and your primary work address will be in Søborg. But it will move to Ballerup in July 2021. The majority of the time you will however be working on site in Jutland following the installation and test phases of the project. Thales also have an office in Frederica.

- On site test of installed track side equipment axel counters, point machines, level crossings among other elements including correspondence test between track side elements, interlocking and traffic control centre.
- Fault finding and rewiring on installations
- Participate in all test activities in the project phases from FAT of equipment to commissioning of rail line
- Test of signalling system in lab environments
These are very important tasks in order to provide a fully functional signalling system in Jutland according to the contracts service level goals.

Key Responsibilities and tasks:
- Participate in developing Thales Denmark Test team onsite procedures.
- Participate in performing the FAT, Pre-SIT, SIT and SAT and Commissioning in Jutland
- Talk the lead in development of test plans and reports
- Take a leading role in the onsite test team in terms, quality assurance of the work and performance follow up.
- Participate in basic training in the total Thales ERTMS system.
- Specialize in defined key areas such as RBC/Interlocking, Network/Switches, Trackside equipment, Servers etc.
Skills and experience:
- Professional, consequent and responsible working attitude
- Strong in writing technical documentation
- Min 5 years’ experience as electro engineer with experience of test of rail signalling and IT systems
- Organised, accurate and a time keeper (reaches deadlines, attend meetings and appointments)
- Trust is a key value in the team to allow a good working atmosphere.
- Team work is important to reach a common understanding of tasks and everybody’s contribution
- Pro-activity and information sharing support our common goal and helps others to align their work
- Extensive experience with installation, test and/or commissioning work from the railway industry
- knowledge of railway operation and signalling principle and ECTS, EN50xx standards
- PC knowledge (MS Office)
- Professional proficiency in English and Danish
- German is optional
- Danish railway certifications such as Pas på, på banen (PPPB) and SR/OR arbejdsleder is a merit
