The Danish Geodata Agency's Hydrographic Office is responsible for hydrographic surveying and charting in Denmark and Greenland. The Hydrographic Office´s Hydro Team is looking for two skilled hydrographic data specialists that can work well independently, in a team-oriented environment and can handle complex hydrographic (depth) data and processes, and who is open to new technologies and modern workflows.
The tasks
The Hydro Team´s main tasks are management of quality-assured hydrographic data and processes to support data-users and providers. While also to give support to the military surveyors, our main data provider, in their hydrographic service and development.
Hydrographic data is the foundation for the production of navigational charts and other hydrographic related services within The Danish Geodata Agency. You will help us improve the management, processing and quality assurance of hydrographic data, the development of our data processes as well as providing technical support for our surveyors.
You will be working on a number of exciting tasks, where the focus will be on the quality assurance, process optimization and handling of hydrographic survey data. You will need to work with the daily operation of hydrographic data in waters around Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. This includes existing data acquired with modern equipment and old digitized data. You must also look into the future and keep up to date with new surveying technologies, their implementation and continuous development. You can expect to be involved in field data acquisition for short periods during the year. Such as sailing with the defense survey vessels, being involved in tidal measurements, by setting up water level gauges and GPS, and generally following up on agreed processes and innovation activities.
The specific tasks associated with these two individual positions will be formed in relation to the competencies of the new candidates and the experience and work of our existing hydrographers and specialists in the team.
Your personal skills
We expect you to have experience in data processing and a solid understanding of the processes, systems and IT from an education or experience as a hydrographer or related work areas. You must have knowledge of geodesy and you may have knowledge of / interest in new surveying technologies and modern data processing techniques.
Ideally, you will have an educational background in hydrography, geodesy, geophysics, oceanography, geography, engineering or land surveying – preferably with a navigation/surveying education and/or experience (preferably a FIG/IHO/ICA Category A or B certification).
Experience with new hydrographic surveying technologies such as LiDAR and satellite derived bathymetry, autonomous surveying, programming language skills (e.g. Python) or AI/machine learning will be advantageous, but not a requirement. The most important skill for us is that you have good energy, the ability to collaborate and have the desire and potential to learn.
It is an essential requirement that you master both oral and written English at high level.
We offer
We offer a strong, professional environment, good colleagues and an informal tone, where humor and good cooperation are top priorities in our daily worklife.
There are good opportunities for relevant competency development.
