Role description

The work is including, but not limited to:

The company gives safety paramount importance in all its activities and you will be expected and required to demonstrate a strong commitment to all matters relating to safety, health and protection of the environment. Sydvaranger Drift AS also places great importance on team work and you will be encouraged to work closely with team members and managers to ensure the achievement of ongoing production targets.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer¿s tasks include, but are not limited to:

• The required geotechnical data is collected, analysed and interpreted
• Liaison with technical services, geology and mine production occurs regularly
• Monthly reports are provided to management
• Audit, review and quality assurance programs are carried out regularly and documented

Sydvaranger has two lateral working languages, English and Norwegian, respectively. Position holder must be able to master at least one of the languages and make him-/herself understood in everyday language as well as in his/her field.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in geotechnical engineering or a related discipline
• Open Pit experience is required
• Underground mining experience is desirable
• Advanced user of computerized mine planning systems
• High degree of safety knowledge and experience in mining
• More than 5 years of experience in open pit mining, emphasis on Geotechnical Engineeringo Contact with authorities, local community and other stakeholderso Develop and support the operating and technical teams to achieve the required performance

Education level:

A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Geotechnical Engineering

Sydvaranger has two lateral working languages, English and Norwegian, respectively. Position holder must be able to master at least one of the languages and make him-/herself understood in everyday language as well as in his/her field.
