Tasks & responsibilities:
The Vice President, Human Resources will be responsible for MHI Vestas’ HR strategy, direction and priorities, heading a global team of human resources professionals who offer support in areas such as talent acquisition, talent & performance management and employee engagement as well as line manager and employee HR services.
You will be expected to head the culture, capabilities and process development that will enable and empower the company’s ongoing internationalization and expansion to new markets. Where appropriate, you will do this by leveraging the best practices and approaches of the joint venture’s parent companies, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Vestas.
Key responsibilities:
Key responsibilities and target setting for this Vice President, HR position can be summarized as follows:
1. In collaboration with the company management team defining holistic HR strategies and plans that will support the achievement of strategic goals set for the business, ensuring that these plans and actions are aligned with the company’s global capability objectives. The key foci of these plans are as a minimum expected to address the following aspects:
empowering the company’s strategic capability and leadership development to enable and support the internationalization of the business, organization and work processes developing and coaching the company’s leadership in their role of transforming the organization towards being more international, more collaborative and even more sustainable going forward engineering the company’s organization and resource allocation to enable strategic growth and internationalization objectives developing the company’s HR function and related processes to support strategic business objectives liaising with the parent companies to ensure adaptability and compatibility to their relevant processes and approaches acting as a visible and credible leader driving strategic business goals
You will take ownership of all agreed HR strategies and plans and hands-on ensure that these are successfully executed through selected, well defined projects and programs.
2. Developing, managing and implementing key corporate HR processes, including succession planning, leadership development, talent management as well as management reviews and assessments, Comp&Ben process implementation and salary reviews, etc. – this in collaboration with the rest of the company management and HR colleagues world-wide.
3. Ensuring the development of world-class processes and approaches are aligned with parent company practices.
4. Acting as a proactive sparring partner in key HR issues relating to business management e.g. in key recruitments, regional business expansions, organizational development and restructuring, possible M&A projects, etc..
5. Facilitating the people leadership development of line managers and supporting them regarding HR matters in order to help them succeed in their management roles.
As VP, HR, you will be a member of the MHI Vestas’ Leadership Team, working closely with its other members and actively contributing to company strategy and priorities.
You will manage a team of more than 50 people – six of these in direct reference with the rest at up to three managerial levels of separation, located both in Denmark and abroad – and will report directly to the CEO.
The role will be based in Aarhus, Eastern Jutland and will require an estimated 20 days of domestic and international travel annually.
Our profile expectations:
We are looking for a candidate with a North European management style, with international experience that is not just European and with experience in referring directly to the company CEO and the Board of Directors. Prior experience from working in a joint venture or a company with multiple owners would also be highly desirable.
The role is a senior position requiring a highly credible, service minded person with strong own initiative and a solid 10 years plus experience in leading a Human Resources organization or function in a globally or internationally operating company. You must have experience with world class HR processes and tools as well as experience in planning and implementing HR policies and approaches from scratch.
To succeed in the role, you need a good balance of strategic clarity regarding the alignment of key HR foci and the business, while also demonstrating strong hands-on execution capabilities to lead and prioritize the activities of the HR team.
You must demonstrate strong leadership characteristics and collaboration skills, have the ability to motivate others and have good communications and negotiation skills. You need to be target oriented, determined, a good listener with strong people skills, empathetic and have proof of change management and leadership coaching capabilities. You must have the maturity to manoeuvre in an environment of different interest groups and cultures and be able to stay positive and resourceful in ambiguous situations. Prior experience in working with ‘blue collar’ environments is also a must.
Excellent oral and written language skills in English, and an adequate academic degree as well as relevant IT literacy are all givens. The most crucial success criteria are a genuine drive and the desire to successfully fill and meet all the demands of a key role in the company.
