Now you have the rare chance to become the first Purchasing Manager in Ballard Europe as we are looking for a structured and people-oriented Purchasing Manager to manage our European Team of buyers at our facilities in Hobro. You will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and will be managing a team consisting of four buyers.

As a Purchasing Manager, you will - in addition to managing your own team of buyers - also be working closely with the global procurement team on global initiatives. A large time part will be spent building relationships with new suppliers, identify new ones and contributing towards achieving departmental goals where emphasis is on delivering high quality goods and services to the organization at the lowest cost in a sustainable and ethical manner. As the first Purchasing Manager in the Nordics region, you will be responsible for Europe as well as supporting other regions.

Your responsibilities are within the following areas:

  • Establish relationships with suppliers.
  • Create and monitor supplier KPI and drive corrective actions and performance improvements to meet annual strategic targets.
  • People management of purchase team
  • Develop and execute sourcing and supplier management strategies for the respective categories.
  • Participate in business reviews with suppliers when relevant.
  • Develop annual category segment strategies and savings targets and make recommendations for category segments.
  • Monitor entire purchasing process, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Use e-sourcing tools to execute RFQ´s and negotiate with supply base.
  • Understand market trends and conditions that impact price and ability of suppliers to deliver goods or services and demonstrate this knowledge to internal and external stakeholders to influence decision-making.
  • Prepare, submit, evaluate, and manage RFQ process.
  • Negotiate and administer new or expiring supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for products, supplies and substitute materials.
  • Source vendors of equipment and supplies (as needed) and assess them to determine strategic alignment with organization, as well product/service availability and terms of sales.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Analyze historical spend data to identify new ways to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Administer and manage the Requisition and Purchasing System.
  • Assist in developing and implementing purchasing instructions, strategies, policies, and procedures.

Who are you?

You are an excellent people manager, who put a pride in supporting and empowering your employees. You have a natural curiosity along with a high degree of enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.

We envisaged that you have an educational background which could be within Supply Chain Management or logistics. It would be beneficial with a bachelor's degree, but we put a higher emphasis on your in-depth knowledge of strategic sourcing, procurement practices, contract management and business analytics. You have strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office) and at least 5+ years of procurement experience working in a logistical, manufacturing or supply chain environment.

You have an ability to manage and analyze and it comes natural to you to use facts and numbers as a base for sound decision making considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions with the outcome of choosing the most appropriate one. You are structured and systematic with the ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.

You thrive in a dynamic workday where you are able work independently and deliver high quality results in a time-constrained environment while balancing your team needs and requirements. You are a strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills which provides with the ability to communicate complex information and respond to questions clearly.
