-Blue Ocean Robotics – a Robot Venture Factory in Odense, Denmark – develop and build mobile service robots within the health, hotel, construction and agriculture sector. For example the disinfection robot UVD Robots and the patient moving robot Multi-Tower. Blue Ocean Robotics supply all our venture companies, who are selling the service robots, with high quality robots on-time in a volume that is about to scale.

In connection with ramp-up of production of our mobile service robots and the implementation of a new production and sourcing strategy, we are looking for an experienced purchaser, who can join a small but steadily growing Sourcing team.

  • The purchaser will in day to day operation be engaged with purchase and logistics handling of components and sub assemblies, supplier performance management, inventory management and supply logistics optimization in collaboration with design, quality assurance and production.
  • The purchaser will be allocated a number of Supply Categories within which you are responsible for spend development on-time in-full delivery performance, standardization, proactive and controlled Engineering Change handling and continuous total cost optimization naturally supported by design, production and project management.
  • The purchaser must assist product development teams in their choice of components - from the idea phase to the launch of the finished product or project delivery.
  • The purchaser will tactically be engaged with supplier selection and validation, supplier and framework agreements, supplier relationship management, supply chain globalization and digitalization of the sourcing infrastructure through implementation of a new ERP system.

As a Purchaser in Blue Ocean Robotics, you will have a unique opportunity to influence product and business development and production, and you will have a broad interface internally as well as with external contacts.

The Purchaser will initially report to the VP of Production and position her/himself in a small but steadily growing Production and Sourcing team.

Your profile

We expect 8-12 years of experience and a proven track record on purchasing from a relevant industry such as mechatronics, electrical equipment, apparatus, medical devices or vehicles or numerical machinery. We assume that you have a combined technical and commercial educational background and in general that you have a profound understanding of value engineering and cost management and a flair for technical solutions. You know by heart the different approach in relationship to Commodity Suppliers, Wholesalers, Preferred Suppliers and Strategic suppliers Partners.

Need to have:

  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Proven results in purchase (supply security, quality, total costs, ..)
  • Category Management/Supply Chain Management experience
  • Familiarity with contracts - their strength and weaknesses
  • Global sourcing experience
  • Experience with MRP/ERP/SCM tools
  • Knowledged about relevant suppliers with a strong network
  • Technical Purchase Specification experience
  • Experience with Supplier Performance Monitoring
  • Experience with RFQ processes

Nice to have:

  • Inventory Management/SMART Inventory experience
  • Logistics Analysis skills including freight, customs, tax, … impact
  • Knowledge about Quality Assurance, Quality Control and methods and tools for such
  • Experience in risk assessments
  • Proven record in best-cost optimization
  • Experience with Medical Devices
  • Experience with PPAP, Kaizen, 8D , A3, Six Sigma or other quality methods and tools

As a person you are self propelled, operational, commercial oriented, systematic, analytical, known as a tough but fair negotiator, characterized by persistency and endurance and you are not afraid of challenging targets and KPIs. You are data focussed and documentation oriented with a strong ability to manage trade-offs and you are always ready to crunch numbers and present data in a graph.
