IT Supporter
Do you want to join a global shipping company, where no day it the same? Then this might be the job for you! We are looking for a service-minded, proactive, and experienced IT supporter for Svitzer in Scandinavia.
With a reporting line to the IT Manager in UK, you assist with IT support to all Svitzer users in Scandinavia and become part of our 3rd support organisation.
You are great at prioritizing your tasks, and always aim at providing the best levels of service to Svitzer users both shore and sea based.

Svitzer is a towage company, which means we help our customers manoeuvre their larger ships safely and timely in and out of port. We operate globally. Most of our business is to support container vessels, cargo ships, cruise ships and navy vessels but we also address emergencies like vessels being adrift or offshore fires. Key Responsibilities:
- Installing and configuring hardware and software for all Svitzer office locations as well as on board the Scandinavian & global fleet.
- Maintain, repair and upgrade IT hardware.
- Provide third line support for all hardware & assigned software issues.
- Assist service desk in hardware and software problem resolution.
- Assist in supporting and maintaining systems supported by regional IT (e.g., IT on Tugs, Office Connectivity, Mobile Phones, Printers, software streams etc.)
- Identify problems which require additional expertise and take appropriate action including referring problems requiring high level support, in a cost effective and timely manner
- Maintain asset management registers, and update support documentation for IT processes.
- Managing of IT equipment and supplies, and monitor IT systems
- Participate in IT projects, and keep up to date with current IT trends
We are looking for
You have a structured approach to your tasks, and always dedicated to finding the best solutions for your colleagues. Your communication skills in English are excellent, you are service-minded and curious about improving your skills.
You understand a wide variety of personal computing equipment, networks, and software, and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computers, MFDs, phones etc.
You manage your own time and priorities, and you thrive on being involved in multiple simultaneous tasks and projects.
You are based in Svitzer HQ in Copenhagen, and willing to travel 25-50% of the time, mostly to Gothenburg.
Svitzer operates on a 24/7 hence some flexibility to work hours is required and includes frequent visits to Svitzer tugboats so comfortable being on a ship for sometimes hours at a time.
Moreover, the following would be an advantage.
- IT qualification or equivalent either completed or currently undertaking
- Experience of Windows 10, Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune and exposure to Cisco Meraki preferred.
- Second line support experience preferred.
- Any field work experience of installing wireless equipment (Cisco), Wi-Fi and 4G / 5G equipment, fibre connectivity etc. would be beneficial
- Driving license essential.
