Trusted Business Advisor for GN Audio (Jabra)
At our HQ located in Ballerup, Denmark , as our new Patent Attorney, you will report to Director of Patents, Henrik Dylmer.
You will be part of a team of 12 dedicated and experienced colleagues working in a dynamic and exciting global environment. You can expect that not one day is the same and you will be exposed to many opportunities for both personal-, and professional development.
A central aspect of your responsibility is to be a Trusted Business Advisory w.r.t. patents and IPR by applying a business perspective, when assessing the patentability of ideas.
Hence, to fully uncover the potential of inventions, you communicate closely with inventors and other relevant stakeholders. In addition, you will be in continuous contact with external patent attorneys.
You will follow the patent process from the initial idea generation phase to obtaining the final patent.
This means that you will:
Unique combination of a technical-, legal-, and business understanding
To be successful in this role, you have a technical- or scientific- background to understand the technical landscape of both existing and new innovations, while at the same time, you possess the ability to explain them to others and you know, how to legally protect them.
In addition, you can listen-, challenge-, and advise the business on patent and IPR matters. Moreover, we expect that you bring:

A central aspect of your responsibility is to be a Trusted Business Advisory w.r.t. patents and IPR by applying a business perspective, when assessing the patentability of ideas.
Hence, to fully uncover the potential of inventions, you communicate closely with inventors and other relevant stakeholders. In addition, you will be in continuous contact with external patent attorneys.
You will follow the patent process from the initial idea generation phase to obtaining the final patent.
This means that you will:
- Collaborate closely with your stakeholders to facilitate idea harvesting with our headset business (i.e., GN Audio (Jabra)), including conducting prior art searches and ensure that selected solutions are patent protected
- Perform Freedom to Operate analysis, analyze competitor patents and assist in competitor monitoring and invalidation proceedings
- Draft and prosecute patent applications for the business area - either directly or in collaboration with outside patent counsels
- Align the patent portfolio with business strategy in collaboration with your colleagues
- Investigate and analyze third party patent activities
Unique combination of a technical-, legal-, and business understanding
To be successful in this role, you have a technical- or scientific- background to understand the technical landscape of both existing and new innovations, while at the same time, you possess the ability to explain them to others and you know, how to legally protect them.
In addition, you can listen-, challenge-, and advise the business on patent and IPR matters. Moreover, we expect that you bring:
- A degree within Electrical Engineering-, Physics-, or a similar field
- Probably between 3-8 years of experience with patents at a highly professional level, including handling patent applications- both nationally and internationally- from private practice, from a corporate function or in a combination
- The ability to work with software implemented inventions, including artificial intelligence / machine learning
- A strong technical understanding and solid analytical skills
- Fluency in speech and in writing English - it is an advantage, if you can read and understand Danish and German, but this is not a prerequisite
- Preferably, you are a European Patent Attorney, but this is not a requirement
