The research and development department of LEO Pharma is on an ambitious journey as part of our overall strategy, resulting in an increased number of clinical trials and a large number of licensing activities and collaboration agreements to support the continued development of the pipeline.
We are looking for an experienced lawyer or inhouse counsel to the R&D Legal section in Global Legal and Compliance. Are you interested in applying your legal skills in a commercial setting in life sciences and to contribute to the further development of a highly skilled legal team in a global legal function?
R&D Legal is a part of the Global IP and R&D Legal group within Global Legal and Compliance in LEO Pharma. Global Legal and Compliance consists of approx. 60 employees, of which the majority are based in LEO Pharma headquarters in Ballerup, Denmark. In R&D Legal we are 5 lawyers supporting the LEO Pharma R&D organisation globally (limited travelling activities). The position can be based in headquarters in Ballerup or in our US offices in Madison, New Jersey.
We can offer a broad variety of challenging tasks which include negotiating and drafting a wide scope of agreements, advice on regulatory compliance and business development transactions:
You hold a master degree in law (Cand.jur; Cand.merc.jur. or L.L.M.).
The ideal candidate has at least 4 years’ relevant work experience from a law firm, as inhouse counsel or from a public research organisation with:
You work independently and efficiently and take responsibility for your tasks and work with dedication to find the right pragmatic solutions. You have a positive attitude, great sense of humor and the ability to stay calm and prioritize correctly.

The proposition
We can offer a broad variety of challenging tasks which include negotiating and drafting a wide scope of agreements, advice on regulatory compliance and business development transactions:
- collaboration agreements, consultancy agreements, service agreements, development agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, clinical trial related agreements, license agreements
- Good Clinical Practices (ICH GCP) and GxP, data privacy (GDPR and HIPAA), regulation of agreements with Health Care Professionals, digital health projects and many other legal aspects involved in research and development activities
- Involvement in business development activities for acquisition of rights to expand or support the R&D pipeline; term sheets, due diligence and option/license/acquisition agreements
Your qualifications
You hold a master degree in law (Cand.jur; Cand.merc.jur. or L.L.M.).
The ideal candidate has at least 4 years’ relevant work experience from a law firm, as inhouse counsel or from a public research organisation with:
- very strong legal skills in commercial contract drafting
- knowledge about life sciences preferred
- excellent communications skills and stakeholder management skills
- the ability to collaborate within the team and across different functions
- the ability to positively contribute to the work environment
You work independently and efficiently and take responsibility for your tasks and work with dedication to find the right pragmatic solutions. You have a positive attitude, great sense of humor and the ability to stay calm and prioritize correctly.
