Milestone Systems is looking for a Legal Counsel / Compliance Manager to support our global business activities

We are expanding Milestone’s division for Legal, Compliance & Risk Management as our business is in constant growth and development. We are looking for candidates with solid legal skills and/or compliance experience.
As Legal Counsel / Compliance Manager in Milestone you will be part of a global team of in-house lawyers providing business-focused legal advice to all parts of the organization. The Legal Division is based in HQ Brøndby, Denmark and we are an integrated part of Business Support and advisors to the management in Milestone. We collaborate with our colleagues to support our innovative and dynamic R&D activities and we participate in the business strategies in an expanding market with new market solutions.

If you join Milestone Legal & Compliance
You will meet a great variety of tasks using all aspects of your knowledge and experience to provide support advice to a wide number of stakeholders across our organization.
As Compliance Manager, you will lead and structure the compliant and ethical integrity of Milestone Group. You will use your skills to communicate and set up operations and framework to embrace a reliability mindset to keep integrity and live the Milestone Values. You will own the compliance program and promote that we are not only doing what is legally required, but also doing what is right for Milestone as we grow. With the support of your colleagues in the Legal Team, you shall drive integrity by drafting and aligning policies and programs to be adopted by the management, and shall support, advice and train the organization, including by making guidelines, processes and tools available.
You will partner with all levels of the organization, and work closely with P&O and IT, and be a contact point to Canon Inc. for reporting. You will drive positive behavior and prevent incidents and will handle cases which may require support for compliance, including working with our communication team when needed.
As in-house counsel, you will participate in the legal work, primarily with the focus to support our worldwide growth under our geo-expansion program. This will include drafting corporate documents, set up structures and contracts with service provides, and work with external advisors to investigate local regulations and requirements. By participating in other general legal work, such as contracts and legal advising, you will achieve insight to the business understanding and issue detection to support the compliance work.
Your primary responsibilities will include to manage the following:
- Become a valued legal capacity in our Business support
- Advise on legal developments and issues in areas of the law impacting on Milestone
- Be a contact hub to our network of local external law firms supporting our geo-expansion
- Structure compliance documentation
- Contribute compliance tools into team-site: LCR Resource Center
- Prepare Corporate Governance material to the Board
- Code of Conduct and coordinating input to the HR Handbook
- GDPR and m. of Milestone Global Data Protection Team
- Export controls
- SOX reporting
- Whistleblower system
- Develop and deliver training on legal and compliance topics to Milestone’s business units
- Develop and participate in workshops for defining policies and risks
To succeed in the role you must have
- Academic background, preferable legal or business (Cand.Jur, Cand.merc Jur. Cand.merc.phil)
- Strong English language skills
- Interest in systems and processes
- Process ownership abilities
- The competency to work independently with the ability to deliver results into team projects
- An eagerness to work in an international setting and in projects
- An open mind to understand technical issues
- Background from knowledge based companies is an advantage, but not a requirements, and also newly educated with relevant qualifications can apply
