Milestone Systems is looking for a Legal Counsel to support our global business activities

We are expanding Milestone’s division for Legal, Compliance & Risk Management (LCRM) as our business is in constant growth and development. We are looking for candidates with solid legal skills and experience working with ESG.

As Legal Counsel in Milestone you will become a part of a global legal, compliance and risk team of in-house legal professionals providing business-focused advice to all parts of the organization. The team is mainly based in our HQ in Brøndby, Denmark and we are an integrated part of the Business Support Unit reporting to the CFO. Further, the LCRM Team acts as advisors to the management in Milestone. We collaborate with our colleagues to support our innovative and dynamic R&D activities and we participate in the business strategies in an expanding market with new market solutions.

If you join Milestone’s LCRM Team
You will meet a great variety of tasks using all aspects of your knowledge and experience to provide support advice to a wide number of stakeholders across our organization.
At Milestone, we have a high focus on our responsibility and sustainability agendas. As our new Legal Counsel, you will focus on supporting and working together with our newly established Corporate Affairs Team. You will play a vital role in setting our agenda for our Responsible Technology and you will – together with our Corporate Affairs Team – own our ambitious ESG agenda. You will use your skills to communicate and set up operations and framework to embrace a reliability mindset to keep integrity and live the Milestone Values. You will promote that we are not only doing what is legally required, but also doing what is right for Milestone and our stakeholders as we grow.

You will support the organization by mapping new relevant laws and regulations and ensuring that such laws and regulations are implemented in the way we operate. Further, you will draft and implement policies and guidelines, as well as provide training as needed.

Your primary responsibilities will include to manage the following:
• Develop and implement our new ESG strategy
• Drive further development and implementation of due diligence framework to support Milestone’s commitment to Responsible Technology
• Make recommendations and draft requirements for vendor, customer and partner related documentation and contracts
• Monitor Milestone’s environmental, social and governance performance
• Work closely together with our Corporate Affairs Team on interaction with different legislative bodies to understand new and future legislation within responsible technology
• Develop and deliver training on relevant legal topics to Milestone’s business units
• Develop and participate in workshops for defining policies and risks

To succeed in the role, you must have
• Academic background, preferable legal or business (Cand.Jur, Cand.merc Jur. Cand.merc.phil)
• Strong English language skills
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with ESG, legal contracts and frameworks
• Interest in systems and processes
• Process ownership abilities
• The competency to work independently with the ability to deliver results into team projects
• An eagerness to work in an international setting and in projects
• An open mind to understand technical issues
• Experience working specifically with human rights and Responsible Technology is an advantage

You possess a “can do” approach and you can prioritize a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
