Head of Group Compliance

During the past few years, we have been expanding our LCRM team, which now consists of 13 legal, compliance and risk professionals globally. We are now looking for a Head of Group Compliance to join the team.

We are looking for a candidate with experience within the typical compliance areas and an eagerness to understand the world of security and technology. As Milestone has an ambitious agenda within privacy and GDPR, we are looking for a candidate with a solid legal background and knowledge of GDPR, security and privacy to support the continuous development of our GDPR program. The candidate we are looking for will play a leading part in:
• maintaining the framework
• provide risk analysis and gab analysis on the privacy/GDPR program
• lead a project to look at legal basis for transfer of data
• directing and managing globally and cross-functional GDPR and privacy initiatives and projects
• advise the business on day-to-day questions on GDPR and privacy

As we are a company with a global footprint, sanctions on both US and EU level and anti-corruption are also important areas. Therefore, you will be a part of the continuous development of our business ownership, practices, training activities and on day-to-day questions. Further, you will actively drive the ongoing updates to our code of conduct and the anti-bribery policies and guidelines.

Milestone is covered by the whistleblower requirements in multiple jurisdictions and a part of your work will be to maintain the framework, conduct whistleblower investigations, report and manage the whistleblower system.

You will work closely together with our Head of Group Risk Management and our legal counsel specializing in Environment, Social Responsibility and Governance.

If you join Milestone’s LCRM Team
You will meet a great variety of tasks using all aspects of your knowledge and experience to provide support advice to a wide number of stakeholders across our organization.

As Head of Group Compliance, you will lead and structure the compliant and ethical integrity of the Milestone Group. You will use your skills to communicate and set up operations and framework to embrace a reliability mindset to keep integrity and live the Milestone values. You will own the compliance program and promote that we are not only doing what is legally required, but also doing what is right for Milestone as we grow.

You will partner with all levels of the organization, and work closely with People & Culture, IT and Finance, and be a contact point to our owners, Canon Inc., for all compliance reporting. You will drive positive behavior and prevent incidents and will handle cases which may require support for compliance, including working with our communication team when needed.

Ensuring Milestone’s compliance worldwide is of the utmost importance. You will support the organization by mapping new relevant laws and regulations and ensuring that such laws and regulations are implemented in the way we operate. Further, you will draft and implement policies and guidelines, as well as provide training as needed.

Your primary responsibilities will include to manage the following:

• Structure compliance documentation
• GDPR program
• Export controls governance set-up
• Maintain whistleblower system and reporting
• Develop internal control framework
• Prepare for SOX compliance
• Contribute with compliance tools and guidance to the global organization
• Develop and deliver training on legal and compliance topics to Milestone’s business units
• Develop and participate in workshops for defining policies and risks
• Code of conduct and other policies and guidelines

To succeed in the role, you must have:

• Academic background, preferable legal or business (Cand.Jur, Cand.merc Jur. Cand.merc.phil)
• Strong English language skills
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with international compliance
• The competency to work independently with the ability to deliver results into team projects
• An eagerness to work in an international setting and in projects
• An open mind to understand technical issues

You must be flexible, resilient with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels and good at taking initiatives. You are a curious person with a strong will to learn. You are good with details and accuracy but has a sense of urgency. You are a strong team player, but you also enjoy working as an individual. You possess a “can do” approach and you can prioritize a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
