Chemical Engineer for Process Development

BioPhero is a biotech start-up in Copenhagen, Denmark that develops and produces affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly substitutes for traditional insecticides. Our goal is to take the lead in the transition to more sustainable agriculture, by developing realistic effective and economical alternatives in the form of safe pheromone-based products, as the future method of insect control, without killing the insects and without developing resistance.

BioPhero was founded in 2016 as a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and has attracted investments from Novo Seeds, Syngenta Ventures, and Syddansk Innovation. We have more than 20 employees and are centrally located in Copenhagen on Østerbro.

The position

As chemical engineer, your main tasks will be operation and construction of installations and process equipment in kg scale, pilot equipment (100 kg scale), as well as test runs both in-house, with suppliers, and with external partners going toward to larger scale. You will also contribute to the design of production and ongoing process improvements. Tasks include automation, process monitoring and production of customer samples. Everyday life is very varied with many exciting activities and plenty of room for good ideas and practical skills.

Profile Requirements:

• We work in an international environment, so you are used to communicating in English
• You are probably trained as a chemical engineer, process engineer, process technologist with some years of relevant experience.
• We expect you to have experience with pilot scale work in the chemical or biochemical industry and have an interest and flair for both technical and practical work.
• As a person, you are independent, welcoming and flexible, and will thrive in a team where we work hard and have fun together.
• You are good at planning, systematic and work with a focus on safety.

We have a good and positive work environment characterized by enthusiasm, go-ahead and can-do attitude, which we want you to thrive in and contribute to. Some travel days must be considered, especially around tests with external partners in the EU. There may also be a need to supervise tasks outside normal working hours, but we are good at planning.
