Risskov

We are looking for a highly motivated analytical chemist to help implement our Technology Development Team (TDT) at LGC’s new European oligonucleotide manufacturing headquarters in Lystrup, Denmark. The mission of the TDT is to support business growth through execution of complex, non-routine oligo manufacturing projects during early stages of client engagement, and then to develop robust processes that can be successfully transferred to manufacturing operations for routine production. In addition, the TDT is responsible for facilitation of cross site transfer of manufacturing processes for key products as well as for supporting troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities as needed. The TDT is a global team and you can expect to work with colleagues across oligo manufacturing and analytics sites in California, Germany and the UK to leverage our collective knowledge and align processes and capabilities across sites. This position will be the primary analytical resource for our small and growing team. While this is not a QC role, the individual in this position will be expected to act as a subject matter expert that supports routine QC as needed. Primary techniques used will be HPLC and LC/MS, but the role will be also be responsible for implementing additional techniques for testing of oligos and oligo starting materials, such as KF, IR, UV/Vis, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across sites in the transfer analytical methods from our LGC Biosearch site in Petaluma, California site as well as our LGC Axolabs site in Kulmbach, Germany in support of manufacturing process transfer.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods to support new opportunities being on-boarded through the Technology Development Team.
  • Keep good documentation records of analytical activities, experimental procedures and analytical data.
  • Maintain the analytical chemistry laboratory space in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support in root cause failure analysis for production and quality incidents.
  • Provide technical customer support and routine progress updates to clients in conjunction the project manager and/or commercial lead assigned to each specific project.
  • Assist with scale-up activities and interface with daily production execution and technology teams.
  • Be a technical resource for coaching and developing of laboratory personnel into a high-performance team through the development and improvement of new and existing analytical methods and training the rest of the team.

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have strong organic chemistry and/or analytical chemistry knowledge, and proficiency in associated analytical techniques; must have knowledge of HPLC-UV, UPLC-MS and computer skills.
  • Must have solid teamwork skills to interface with engineers, chemists, technicians and analysts to ensure smooth laboratory and plant operations.
  • Expertise in reverse phase, ion exchange, size exclusion, and HRAMS techniques required.

Education/Experience:

  • Master of Science degree with Analytical Chemistry focus and hands on experience with chromatography and mass spec method development and analysis.
  • Proficient in synthetic organic chemistry and associated analytical methods.
  • Experience in nucleic acid chemistry and/or oligonucleotide synthesis preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop analytical methods independently.
  • Familiar with office software and work related software.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of chemical manufacturing support.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated individual who can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good troubleshooting, communications, teamwork and team leading skills.

LGC Biosearch Technologies in Risskov is producing custom-made synthetic DNA and RNA oligonucleotides to support our customers within life science such as the pharmaceutical industry, research institutions and hospitals. LGC Biosearch Technologies is certified according to the ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 13485-2016 standards and established a GMP production line in 2016.

At the Risskov site we are currently 35 employees, but we are in the process of expanding our production capacity. In this connection we will this summer move to a larger site in Lystrup. We have a pleasant working environment, pension scheme, staff lunch and several staff events during the year.
