We are seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our team at a busy Chinese buffet restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and presenting high-quality sushi dishes while also contributing to the overall variety of our buffet offerings. The Sushi Chef will play a key role in ensuring that our sushi station is consistently stocked with fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing sushi options that meet the preferences of our diverse customer base.
- Plan, create, and execute a sushi menu that includes a wide range of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri.
- Ensure the quality, freshness, and presentation of all sushi dishes meet the highest standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure a balanced variety of buffet options, blending sushi with traditional and modern Chinese cuisine.
- Monitor inventory levels for sushi ingredients, ensuring timely restocking and maintaining freshness.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary sushi station, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ensure all food handling and preparation processes comply with health and safety regulations.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Sushi Chef, ideally in a high-volume restaurant setting.
- Expertise in sushi preparation techniques, including handling raw fish and creating traditional and contemporary sushi dishes.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in presentation and food safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and management.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A passion for sushi and Asian cuisine, with a creative approach to menu development.
- Culinary certification or formal training in sushi preparation is a plus, but not required.
