Svitzer is currently looking for an experienced, self-driven and proactive Senior Communications Manager with excellent English skills in speaking and writing and a passion for driving high impact internal and external communication in an international setting.

The role

At Svitzer, we play a crucial role in keeping the global seaborne trade flowing by helping vessels navigate in and out of ports around the globe. As the world’s largest towage company and an independent brand within the Maersk Group, we take a leading role within decarbonisation and have set ambitious targets for carbon neutrality.

You will join Svitzer at a time where we are taking significant steps to further strengthen our core business of towage, but also introduce new strategic focus areas. As Senior Communications Manager in Svitzer’s communications team, you will play a key role in driving global awareness and ownership of the new initiatives. This includes driving communication that supports culture change and adoption of new mindsets.

The Senior Communications Manager role is new, which means you will have plenty of opportunity to help shape the role and impact our communication strategies. This could for instance be with regards to how we communicate most effectively with crews, or how we position and use members of our executive management team in the communication. Whatever strategies we decide upon, you will however also be instrumental in bringing them to live, shaping the actual communication.

Working out of our global head office in Copenhagen, you will gain close colleagues from all over the world and get a broad network within Svitzer, as well as within the Maersk Group, where learning and development opportunities are numerous.

Your main responsibilities:

• Act as advisor to senior stakeholders in the organisation, for instance when it comes to communication of new business initiatives, transformation projects, announcement of people changes and external positioning

• Contribute to the ongoing definition of our global communications strategy and line of communication
• Work closely with HR to drive employee engagement and continued dialogs around purpose and values
• Produce content such as articles, videos and social media posts for relevant internal and external channels
• Potentially take on management of larger communication projects, like new website and rebranding projects

Some flexibility to accommodate different geographies and time zones is to be expected.

What we are looking for

To be ideally suited for the position, we imagine that you have a master’s degree in communication or similar and at least 8-10 years of relevant experience, including within a large international organisation.

You possess the strategic insight necessary to make solid communications plans that address a complex range of stakeholders, but also find pleasure in the actual content production. Excellent oral and written English skills is a prerequisite.

As a person, we expect you to be well organised, self-driven and proactive. You should be a self-starter, but also collaborate well and recognise the need to drive results as a team. Finally, you need to have a highly developed sense of urgency coupled with a quality mind-set.
