Contemporary furniture rooted in craftsmanship
BoConcept is a premium retail lifestyle brand, designing, producing and selling contemporary furniture, accessories and lighting for living, dining, sleeping, home-office and outdoor spaces. The company's headquarters are based in Denmark, and the BoConcept products are sold through more than 300 franchise stores in 67 countries across six continents, making it a global retail brand.

As the new Art Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that consumers buy BoConcept's products through compelling creative concepts, campaigns, and content. You will lead a cross-functional creative team, which includes partner agencies and freelancers in the conception, design, and execution of visual materials across channels and touchpoints. You may be looking for your next step in-house to drive brand narrative - with a strong background in design and an understanding of how to get the best from a team.

Today, the brand and creative marketing team has 24 employees based at the company's headquarters - across Brand, social media and Creative Ops, and is supported by seven local commercial marketing managers based in the company's main markets around the world. External agencies add to the department content output.

You will provide innovative leadership in creating the organisation's brand narrative, look and feel, style & brand usage guidelines, working with our copy and content team to bring the brand to life. Ensuring we remain on trend and consistent in our approach for our global audience. You will have a keen eye for interiors and lifestyle imagery, moving image, and typography, and an innovative and modern instinct to elevate the BoConcept visual communications to the next level.

You are passionate about digital and social marketing and how the brand can have an impact in the digital space. You are also a capable design professional. You can produce content yourself. You are seasoned in the creative process. You know how to manage design deliverables and campaigns and care about the detail.

Working with key stakeholders across all levels and departments to showcase what makes the company unique and communicate it to the world. You will be ultimately responsible for raising brand development, working closely with the marketing team to elevate the brand even further in the premium market.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Working with the Brand Marketing Team, Head of Marketing Ops, Digital and Agency partners
  • Innovating and upholding the BoConcept brand and style guidelines; ensuring brand identity and brand frameworks are reflected across all touchpoints incl. Global Toolkits, global social platforms, B2B platforms, website, email marketing, digital marketing and VM, maintaining a holistic view of our multi-channel offering
  • You will work across the end-to-end content process, supporting concept ideation, brief creation and presentation as well as production & post-production asset review and art working for Brand HQ and external global franchise partners in 67 countries
  • Lead the in-house team of graphic and digital designers and content-makers to execute:
    • Paid media assets (paid digital, paid social ad assets, TVC, Idents, etc.)
    • Retail VM materials for existing and new franchise retail stores worldwide
    • Organic social (posts, reels, pins, YT), email marketing campaigns, website asset creation to continuously push best practice through integrated graphic identity
    • Lookbooks / PDF assets across seasonal collection drops


  • Researching and creating ideas for new marketing/commercial campaigns
  • Work closely with lead CW to optimise look & feel in tandem with strong copy
  • Art directing photoshoots, campaigns, and other productions – from initial treatments, selection of photography/film partners through to post
  • Maintaining and ensuring a high level of finish for all asset creation
  • Support the conception, creation, development, and design of all digital assets (homepages, emails, editorial, digital ads/banners, videos, interactive animations) – this includes the management of all content and asset delivery
  • Social: Continuously elevate BoConcept's digital and social expression using best in class technologies; e.g. dynamic ads, 3D, animation, AR/VR
  • Respond to internal and external briefs, filtering down to the creative team and leading the development of innovative and compelling creative concept
  • Commissioning talent such as illustrators, animators, stylists, photographers, etc.
  • Prioritise + Traffic team on current briefs, and identify gaps for talent

  • Able to work freely in Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator; retouching
  • Ability to produce work for a wide range of channels, including social media, email, desktop and mobile, with a good understanding of the best practices of each platform
  • A detail-oriented approach with ability to work independently and manage more than one project at a time, and to liaise with the teams throughout

Extensive experience in brand development
We are looking for someone who consistently endeavours to push creative boundaries in terms of platform innovation and fresh, new bold ideas. You are passionate about design, brand, and creativity and your passion and drive inspires others, as does your proactive 'can-do' attitude. You firmly believe that the consumer comes first, and thus, your decisions are rooted in a consumer-oriented mindset.

You must have extensive experience in brand development and multichannel marketing concepts. This means that you have approx. five years of experience in a creative leadership role and are used to working in a high-paced, multitasking environment. It will also be advantageous if you have retail experience with a luxury brand.

You are an excellent leader, with strong communication and listening skills. This also means that you always provide feedback, explore solutions with the team, and incorporate the expertise and needs of everyone involved in a project in order to create the best possible products. You also manage time efficiently and are skilled at planning and strategizing high-profile projects, paying attention to detail and design aesthetics.

From local cabinetmakers to global retail chain
BoConcept was founded in 1952 by two young Danish cabinetmakers, Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm. They built their small workshop in the sleepy town of Herning. The company has grown into a global furniture retailer, with franchise stores in 67 countries spanning six continents.

In 2016, BoConcept became part of 3i Group plc, which is supporting the management team to further develop the company and brand internationally, helping BoConcept to secure a solid position in international markets all over the world.

95 percent of the company's products are sold through franchisees, and the global workforce consists of 2,350 employees in total, including store staff.
