The position:
UNICEF Denmark is leading some of UNICEF’s most ambitious partnerships and therefore we are searching for professional and highly structured Partnership Communications Specialist for our External Relations Unit in our Department of Communications. The successful candidate is driven by working in support of UNICEF’s mandate and enjoys applying his/her expertise to advocate for and advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our new colleague will act as global communications lead on our global shared value partnerships, for example, our partnerships with The LEGO Foundation and Novo Nordisk, and will play a vital role in ensuring that both UNICEF and our partners communicate in a way that is engaging and professional while reaching all relevant stakeholders with the core messages of the partnerships. She/he will also act as a key focal point for UNICEF´s Partnership Division in Geneva. The successful candidate thrives in international multi-stakeholder organizational set-ups, where collaboration, negotiation and diplomacy are key elements of successful partnership communication.
Responsibilities:
Partnership communication
- Plan and manage partnership communication in support of one or more of UNICEF’s Priority Shared Value Partnerships (PSVPs) in close collaboration with UNICEF programme leads, communication specialists and partners’ advocacy and communication teams
- Collaborate and influence across multi-stakeholder networks to coordinate and align communication ambitions and objectives with due diligence considerations
- Ability and interest in developing an in-depth understanding of the key issue the partnership is addressing and develop issue-based communication and shape advocacy with programme staff and experts. This with a view to lead on an agenda together with the partner, all within UNICEF’s boundaries of independence
- Work in close collaboration with UNICEF programme leads, communication specialists and partners’ advocacy and communication teams to develop annual communication plans for efficient partnership communication at global level, key moments at regional level and/or a key priority country activation
- Develop annual communication plans for efficient partnership communication at a global level with a key focus on building joint events and key advocacy moments with integrated partnership communication
- Develop global communication performance indicators for the select PSVPs and incorporate, monitor and report on these
- Coordinate and co-develop regular press efforts and social media content to acknowledge partners’ contributions and to showcase partnership programme achievements.
- Coordinate and write an annual newsletter highlighting partnership programme achievements, events, etc.
- Prepare regular social media content to acknowledge partners’ contributions and to showcase partnership programme achievements
Campaigns and events
- Plan, lead and organize the engagement of partners in UNICEF’s global campaigns and media coverage of global events
- Plan and coordinate closely with communications stakeholders across UNICEF HQ on upcoming global events, campaigns and other communication initiatives
Partnership building
- Serve as primary point of contact for communication leads at partner entities
- Work closely with and develop relations with leads and communication specialists at partner entities
- Develop new partnership communication products and approaches to deepen partner engagement
- Monitor and analyze the media in the areas related to the select PSVPs
Internal collaboration
- Work closely with the Partnership Managers on the shared value partnerships
- Work closely with cross-cutting departments in UNICEF Denmark, UNICEF's Private Fundraising and Partnerships division based in Geneva and UNICEF's country offices, regional offices and head office in New York
- Take part in and contribute to partnership project teams
- Work closely with programme and communication specialists and other peers across the UNICEF family including in HQ, regional offices and country offices
- Liaise with programme teams to support them in tracking, planning, coordinating and executing all partner communication requirements. Ensuring that deadlines to partners are met
- Source feature content, human interest stories, photo essays etc. from Country Offices, which document partnership programme activities and achievements
- Collaborate closely with the rest of the External Relations unit in the Communications Department, to ensure alignment and synergies of content production and media efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with working in international organizations, preferably with UN experience or other political organizations
- Master’s Degree in Communications / Global Marketing / Journalism / Public Relations
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in international communications, journalism, advocacy, public relations or campaigns
- A proven ability to effectively manage high profile global partnership communications initiatives, with experience with successful advocacy campaigns, digital communications, and outreach to diverse global and national Danish audiences
- International experience and perspective, including field experience in international development contexts, is considered an asset
- Experience in incorporating and aligning partners interests with employer interests.
- Languages: Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills – preferably with Danish skills as well
