The Program Platform Unit, in the Program Division, in Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is looking for a talented intern, with flair for communications, to support our work in helping people affected by forced displacement.

Who we are

The Programme Division develops programmatic concepts and strategies relevant to DRC’s international operations and delivers support to operations within these areas. It also has the lead in developing position papers on DRC’s key advocacy and policy priorities. The Programme Division currently hosts various global specialist lead functions including for DRC’s five core sectors: Protection, Shelter & Settlements, Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding, and Economic Recovery. The Division is furthermore overall responsible for continuously developing and implementing DRC’s programme handbook and the DRC Response Framework, which articulates how DRC seeks to save lives, promote durable solutions and address root causes of displacement, - capturing DRC’s engagement with persons of concern from the beginning to the end of their displacement. The Program Platform unit is responsible for strengthening strategic program development, and systematically developing and effectively rolling out the three DRC response platforms: Responding to Emergency, Solutions to Displacement, and Addressing Root Causes of Conflict and Displacement. Furthermore, the Global Shelter & Settlements (S&S) Sector lead is presently hosted by the unit.

Overall objective

We are looking for an intern who will work at DRC headquarters in Copenhagen. The intern will have the opportunity to enable DRC to work more effectively with operationalizing the Response Framework, and specifically support the roll-out of the three programme platforms. The position will further give support to the Global Shelter & Settlements Sector. The intern will support various projects with communication, documentation, and internal information management.

About the internship

The intern will be working alongside other colleagues on matters concerning project management, information and quality management, and analysis communications, branding (visibility). The responsibilities include:

COMMUNICATION

  1. Strengthen Communication on DRC Response Framework and its three platforms
    1. Make material available on Insite & Sharepoint
    2. Support with developing guidance and policy material for both internal and external use in the sector
    3. Support with rolling out new platform tools
    4. Support development and roll-out of webinars and e-learning modules

  2. Support the roll-out of global trainings & induction (online), planning & coordination
  3. Support event organisation incl. logistics
  4. Strengthen communication on the DRC Shelter & Settlements sector:

  1. Editing InSite page content and news articles
  2. Updating/posting/editing intranet S&S sector content
  3. Developing/maintaining S&S sector mailing list

INFORMATION & KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

  1. Strengthen information on programme platforms and the S&S sector
    1. Practical support to gathering and disseminating relevant programmatic tools/templates
    2. Logistical/practical help related to relevant programmatic products & processes

  2. Light research on relevant issues and other relevant ad hoc tasks

DONOR REPORTING AND COMPLIANCE

  1. Support with donor reporting
  2. Supporting with maintaining DRC Insite Donor pages

There may be additional tasks assigned depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Basic requirements

The intern will be working both individually and together with other DRC colleagues as a team and should meet the following requirements:

  • Be enlisted at a university for a relevant education (this is a prerequisite for the position);
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Have good analytical skills
  • Have good communication skills (written, verbal)
  • Be comfortable using zoom, teams and have decent IT skills
  • Be open, committed, and curious
  • Have knowledge of and interest in international relations
  • Have the required permits to work and live in Denmark

Conditions

Availability: 10 January 2022 – 24 June 2022

Duration: approximately 5 Months

Working hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Internship (unpaid, lunch scheme is provided – Covid-19 allowing)
