The primary focus of this position is to drive research and development activities in the processing of reinforcement yarns and fabrics for pultruded fiber composites and to develop state-of-the-art techniques and practices for controlling yarns and fabrics in the pultrusion process.

To be considered for this role, you will hold an advanced degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Engineering with thesis in Textile or similar qualifications in closely related subjects, combined with several years of experience in textiles processing and / or manufacturing. As the responsibilities include developing improved equipment for yarn and fabric processing (creels, guides, matrices etc.), a good understanding of mechanics and machines is a plus.

You will report to the Chief Technology Officer and be part of a strong team of dedicated professionals. You will work within a team of specialists in Pultrusion Process Science in close collaboration with specialists in Composite Engineering and Mechanics, Chemistry and Materials Science. You will also collaborate closely with Operations and Production Engineering to implement your ideas in operational practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Bring state-of-the-art knowledge of textile engineering to bear on the pultrusion process.
  • Study the pultrusion process from a textile engineering perspective and develop a deep understanding of how the processing of yarns and fabrics influence process efficiency and product properties.
  • Lead improvements and development of Fiberline A/S’ processing of yarns and fabrics for higher performance, higher processing efficiency and lower cost.
  • Work closely with Composit, Engineering & Mechhanics to determine optimal specifications of yarns and fabrics for composit properties design.
  • Work closely with Operations to implement best practices in textile processing.
  • Be the expert in analytical methods in textiles and lead the equipment of laboratories for textile characterization and –engineering.
  • Work closely with Sourcing in developing new suppliers of glass and carbon fiber yarns and fabrics and in improving the technologies and performance of existing suppliers.
  • Develop Technical Purchase Specifications of yarns and fabrics in close collaboration with colleagues.
  • Define appropriate QC methods for fibers, yarns and fabrics and guide the implementation of such methods.
  • Support QEHS in Health and Safety aspects of glass- and carbon fibers and their handling.

Your profile

  • Advanced degree in either Textile Engineering, Materials Engineering with thesis in Textile or similar qualifications in closely related subjects or closely related disciplines.
  • Substantial experience in textile processing.
  • Knowledge and experience with reinforcement fibers for composite materials or a demonstrated ability and willingness to quickly acquire such knowledge.
  • Proactive, curious, structured and outspoken.
  • Good communication skills with excellent ability to author technical reports, give oral presentations and guide the development of work instructions.
  • Strong networker
