About the Structural Biology and NMR laboratory
The research within SBiNLab focuses on the structure, folding and dynamics of proteins, employing state-of-the-art NMR and computational methods. Research includes: (i) intrinsically disordered proteins, (ii) The relationship between dynamics, mutations and function of proteins incl. enzymes, (iii) methods to integrate NMR and computation, and (iv) applications of (i)-(iii) in the study of biological processes. Four highly interconnected research groups provide a strong, international research environment for studies of protein biology, chemistry and biophysics. The research is highly interdisciplinary and currently counts 40+ researchers and students at all levels. In addition to providing a strong and motivating research environment and the NMR spectrometers, there is access to state-of-the-art facilities for a broad range of biochemical and biophysical studies incl. access to in house facilities for extensive protein production, spectroscopy (circular dichroism, fluorescence) and calorimetry (both isothermal titration calorimetry and differential scanning calorimetry). We also have access to and use high-performance computing equipment for molecular simulations and analysis of NMR data. SBiNLab is part of the integrative structural biology cluster at the University of Copenhagen, ISBUC, which actively connects more than 200 researchers in structural biology, some of which have become users of cOpenNMR in the last 5 years.
