Facility Manager for the Novo Nordisk Foundation “Center for 4D cell dynamics” at the Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Special Consultant as Facility Manager with effect from January 1, 2024 or shortly thereafter.

The Department of Chemistry is an internationally leading research and teaching environment for chemistry. The Department of Chemistry conducts top-level research within a wide range of chemical disciplines. We work within themes such as the green transition, medicine, material development and quantum chemistry. In addition, the department trains excellent graduates in chemistry who are employed in Danish and foreign companies. The department also contributes high-quality chemistry teaching to a

Tasks
The advertised Facility Manager position will ensure the management and day to day running of the “Center for 4D cell dynamics”, a national facility for interdisciplinary studies in chemistry, physics, biology, biomedicine and other research fields, run by the group of Professor Nikos Hatzakis.
In your everyday life, you will take care of all aspects related to the running of the facility, from ensuring the maintenance of fluorescence microscopes and other instruments, planning experiments, helping users with the acquisition and potentially the interpretation of data and maintaining records of acquired data, as well as other relevant tasks related to the day to day running of the facility. The users of the facility will include academic and industrial research groups at National or International level.
Your task will include:
• Maintaining, using and training people to use fluorescence microscope instruments that includes a Lattice light sheet, Total Internal Reflection, Spinning disc microscope and confocal microscope as well as additional smaller microscopes of the centre.
• In collaboration with the Facility director Professor Nikos Hatzakis, evaluate proposals for instrument time submitted by potential users
• Participation in scientific conferences presenting and advertising the “Center for 4D cell dynamics”
• Manage the daily tasks related to the running of the Facility. this may include ordering instrument parts, consumables related to the experiments, preparation of biological samples e.t.c.
• Assist users in the collection and potentially the interpretation of data
• Maintain records of experiments and acquired data
• Contribute to writing and publishing scientific articles
• Participate in other tasks relevant for the functioning of the Facility and related infrastructure
• Demonstrate the facility to collaborators and students.
We expect, that you
• have a PhD degree in chemistry, nanoscience or equivalent
• a strong background in fluorescence microscopy , both at the experimental and technical level
• can communicate efficiently in English, both in writing and orally
• can work both independently and as part of a team
• can take initiative and not least provide good support
• can thrive in a busy everyday life, with many different actors, deadlines and tasks, including ad hoc tasks
• have good cooperation skills
• would like to have experience in the function as a link between different organizational levels and units

Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary is made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as Special Consultant (Specialkonsulent). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
