Niels Bohr Institute at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Special Advisor for the NQCP programme with effect from 1 March 2024.

About us
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, generously funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels - from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.

The job
The Special Advisor works to develop NQCP as an innovative research organisation and a prominent actor in the quantum computing ecosystem. As the NQCP grows and evolves, the specific tasks will adapt to the needs of the programme and will be adjusted in dialogue with the head of the secretariat.

The Special Advisor interfaces with the broader quantum computing ecosystem to secure productive collaborations with relevant partners. In addition, there Special Advisor focuses on understanding the needs and requirements of industry when it comes to quantum computing.

The position requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and teamwork, and you will be working closely with the research teams at NQCP.

Your task will include:

  • Stakeholder and partner management including facilitation of relationships with collaborators, partners, satellites, and other key organizations, i.e., government.
  • Play an active part in organising and facilitating leadership, partner, and collaborator events and conferences.
  • Project management and execution of strategic projects.
  • Follow industry quantum computing trends and developments to align NQCP activities.
  • Build up NQCPs role and position in the broader quantum computing ecosystem.
  • Play a proactive role in developing and maintain a productive leadership and innovation culture at NQCP.

  • PhD in relevant field
  • International work/education experience
  • Experience within organisational development, entrepreneurship, industry, and academia
  • Understanding of the tech industry
  • Strong project management skills
  • Outgoing networker skilled at forging strong collaborations
  • Ability to juggle many tasks and re-prioritise as necessary
  • Collaborative self-starter and cultural ambassador

We offer
A central position where you will be involved from the start and contribute to fulfilling the NQCP mission.

You will be working at interface between the support team and the researchers and be a key person in contributing to build a research centre that will have the best working environment in the world for quantum research.

Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as a Special Consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.

The position will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.
