The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for the position as Liaison Officer to represent DTU in the office of the EuroTech Universities Alliance in Brussels.
We are looking for a colleague with a desire and an ambition to promote technical research in Europe and to help our researchers developing technologies for sustainable change.
The job
As a member of Team International Partnerships, in the office Office for Research, Advice & Innovation, your overall responsibility will be to support the development of DTU’s strategic international alliances and partnerships in a European funding and policy context. Examples of current collaborations are the EuroTech Universities Alliance (see below), Nordic Five Tech (www.nordicfivetech.org), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Tec de Monterrey.
The team provides executive management support to the DTU leadership, facilitates collaboration across the value chain of research, education, innovation and entrepreneurship and collaborates pro-actively with a broad range of both internal and external stakeholders to stimulate collaboration and raise awareness on funding and policy opportunities, mainly within research and innovation in the field of sustainability. The team consists of five team members and one team manager.
The EuroTech Universities Alliance (https://eurotech-universities.eu/) is a strategic partnership of six leading technical universities in Europe: Technical University of Denmark, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Eindhoven University of Technology, Technical University of Munich, École Polytechnique in Paris, and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Through the promotion of in-depth collaboration across research, education, innovation and entrepreneurship, the Alliance combines the complementary strengths of its partner universities to develop joint initiatives and engage in policy definition with key EU stakeholders through the promotion of its experience and expertise.
The EuroTech Brussels Office works to raise the profile and visibility of the Alliance on the European scene and to enhance the EuroTech Universities’ participation in Horizon Europe and other related EU funding programmes. The Brussels office consists of a head of office, an office manager, a communications officer and four liaison officers from the partner universities.

Salary and appointment terms
The contract will be negotiated on individual terms. Expected start is 1 January 2024.
The place of work is Brussels, Belgium. Some travel to DTU in Denmark and within Europe must be expected.
The successful candidate will be employed by and formally report to DTU, Head of International Partnerships, Ulla Høeberg Jørgensen. In practical terms he/she will undertake tasks set by DTU, as well as tasks in relation to the Alliance as a whole. With regard to the latter, the Liaison Officer’s work will be guided and coordinated by the Head of the Brussels Office.

- Building networks with relevant research and innovation stakeholders in Brussels and beyond
- Providing EU intelligence to with key stakeholders at DTU, including management, academics and administrative staff
- Participate in DTU internal EU coordination
- Build strong relationship to the Greater Copenhagen EU Office, where DTU is a member.
- Planning and execution of events and research workshops
- Concrete support to major strategic research proposals
- Contributing to the positioning of the Alliance in an EU context, with a view to influencing EU research funding policy
The work will be undertaken in close collaboration with the alliance partners and in close dialogue with International Partnerships.
Qualifications
Candidate’s competency profile:
- Relevant academic degree
- Knowledge of EU research policy, and research and innovation funding programmes
- Knowledge of the research and educational conditions for Danish and international universities
- Full work-proficiency in English
- Work-proficiency in Danish
- Capability to work independently and navigate in a political environment with many stakeholders and still maintain focus on the overall perspective and strategic added value
- Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills
- Diplomatic, approachable and solution-oriented.
