This transformation has generated explosive growth which is expected to continue for many years. On behalf of Ballard Power Systems Europe, we are seeking an experienced and purpose driven Quality Manager with strong communication skills to make a mark on the company’s future quality management.

About Ballard Power Systems Europe

Ballard Power Systems Europe can trace its roots back to 2004 in Skive when what would later become Ballard Power Systems Europe was separated into a division of a local business specialising in energy-efficient quality products for heating, cooling, and ventilation. In 2011, half of the company was acquired by Ballard Power Systems, a Canadian enterprise, which took over the rest of the business in 2016.

Ballard Power Systems Europe is currently an international organisation headquartered in Hobro. The headquarters employs approximately 170 highly committed people from 12 different nationalities who all share a profound passion for energy technology and want to contribute to a greener and more sustainable planet.

Do you want to be the change and lead the Quality team into the future?

With reference to the Director of Quality seated in the Ballard Power System’s headquarters in Canada, your overall responsibility will be management of the Quality team in Ballard Power Systems Europe. This will include the development, implementation, and optimization of relevant business procedures, as well as ensuring the efficient and effective continuous improvements of the company’s integrated management system.

Your management task will consist of supporting the company’s vertical business segments and other stakeholders, leading, and driving quality with the Project and Process teams to ensure effective development, transfer, and maintenance of products and processes throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, you will play an important role in root cause investigations and validation of the corrective and/or preventive actions related to quality issues, including facing the customers and representing them internally.

You are expected, through a coaching, trustworthy, value-based, and consistent management style, to:

  • Develop and maintain the Quality strategic objectives and define action plans to achieve them.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated management systems cf. ISO 9001, IRIS, IATF/TS 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Hold the responsibility and accountability for the Quality budgets and resource allocation.
  • Hold the team management responsibility, which includes staffing, employee evaluation, providing guidance and leadership for direct reports.
  • Lead planning and conduct external audits and maintain the ongoing contact with the certifying bodies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct the company’s internal audit plan and lead the Quality Ambassador group.
  • Prepare Quality Management and Safe Launch plans for the Project team.
  • Report to the organization about the quality management system’s strategic and operational performance and coordinate the reporting on product and process quality metrics.
  • Plan and implement relevant quality-related training of the organization.

You will be expected to travel to the Canadian headquarters once or twice a year and to represent Ballard Power Systems Europe externally among customers and suppliers in Europe, most likely a few days every other month.

Who are you?

  • We expect that you have an education as Engineer or acquired knowledge at a similar level.
  • You possess a minimum of three years of experience from a similar position, preferably from the Automotive industry.
  • You have experience with ISO 9001, IRIS, IATF/TS 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and with tools such as PPAP, APQP, MSA, D/PFMEA.
  • You are used to working with MS Office 365 and Axapta.
  • You are fluent in English at a professional negotiating level.
  • You are a strong team player with strong communication skills and an ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • You have knowledge of internal workflows in big, international organizations and possess an excellent process-oriented mindset.
  • You are an expert in organizing, planning, and structuring tasks and hold the ability to prioritize your tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • You have the ability to handle confidential and non-routine information and explain policies when necessary.
  • You can deal with a diverse group of internal and external contacts at all levels.
