Team Manager, Analytical Chemistry
Symphogen is seeking a highly dedicated colleague with strong leadership skills and broad scientific knowledge to support a team of currently 6 scientists, 6 technicians, and 1 laboratory trainee in advancing their antibody targets through lead selection, clinical development, and commercialization.

As Team Manager, Analytical Chemistry at Symphogen, you will be responsible for the team’s scientific deliverables and day-to-day activities. Your focus will be on efficiency and prioritization of laboratory tasks, and you will be directly involved in improving analytical processes and advancing the analytical platform. In addition, you will set direction by supporting the growth and development of team members and contribute to the development strategies within the department and the CMC area in general. As a successful candidate, you will be able to nurture team commitment and collaboration in a busy and diverse working environment, together with CMC management, contributing to the continuous improvement of our processes and ways of working.
With direct report to the Director of Analytical Development.
The main tasks of the Analytical Chemistry team are:
Your qualifications are +3 years of experience with people management and leadership, both on a strategic and operational level. You understand the physical and chemical properties of proteins and have experience with analytical testing (HPLC, iCIEF, CE-SDS) of biologics, preferably antibodies. It is an advantage if you have experience with developing and validating analytical methods, with CMC development of biopharmaceuticals, and with CMO/CRO collaboration. Knowledge about GMP and regulatory requirements are desirable. You have strong communication skills and are fluent in English, written and spoken.
You have a Master’s Degree in cand.pharm., cand.scient., cand.polyt. or the like, and equally important practical experience from working within the industry.
You have a positive, humorous, and curious mindset, and you get things done with your can-do attitude. You are attentive to your surroundings, motivate and engage your colleagues and act as a front-runner to your team. You have an admirable working morale, are eager to learn and develop and set your team first.

- Development and pre-validation of analytical methods (primarily (U)HPLC and capillary methods) for testing of monoclonal antibodies
- Supporting the cross-functional development projects by being part of the analytical sub-team, including support to establish specification and reference materials etc.
- Testing samples from across our research and development programs in support of lead selection, upstream and downstream process development, and supporting stability studies and formulation development
- Method transfer to CMO, including troubleshooting and supporting phase-appropriate GMP activities at the CMOs, such as method validation
- Supporting the progress of our data management system
