We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant at Department of Neuroscience, to start 1 January 2024 or as soon as possible hereafter. The position is time limited until and including 31 August 2024.
Our group and research
The Walter lab is doing research in neurobiology. Our projects and methods focus on chemical synaptic transmission, the primary mode of information transfer in the nervous system. Our experimental system is the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, a powerful genetic model system. In particular, we are interested to understand how the molecular components of the synapse allow for fast and precise communication and how they mediate changes to store information or maintain transmission under pathological conditions (Reddy-Alla et al., Neuron 2017 Sep 13;95(6):1350-1364; Böhme et al., Nat Commun. 2019 Mar 6;10(1):1085). In a new line of research, we will make use of the genetic toolbox available in Drosophila to investigate whether and how human disease mutations cause to synapse pathology.

Place of employment
The place of employment is Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The average working hours is 10 hours pr. week.
Employment as Laboratory Assistant will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 1.

- Manage fly stocks
- Fly flipping
- Cleaning
- Receive, register and store fly lines
- Organize flyfood
