Analytical Chemist

Implementing in a new GC/MS, method development and responsible for equipment

You will become a member of Tempur-Sealy´s Advanced Technology chemical development department. You will join a dedicated team of colleagues in Denmark and the US who work continuously on strengthening the Tempur® brand by developing and improving products and production. You will be a part of an international team of experienced chemical engineers and lab technicians – 2 engineers and 4 technicians are employed at the location in Aarup on Funen.

We are looking for an Analytical Chemist in a new position for our PU lab. Your job will include responsibility for new GC/MS (with dynamic headspace) with nearly all possibilities for solid phase extraction and olfactory detection. The PU lab has all equipment like DMA, FTIR, NIR, Laser diffraction etc. It is our goal to go to the next level in finding odor compounds in our foams and textiles and define which VOC’s are coming from the raw materials and which are created during chemical reaction of the PUR foam. Your primary areas of responsibility on the team include:

• Method development for the GC/MS
• Running and maintenance of the GC/MS
• Link knowledge form GC/MS (olfactory detection) to internal/external odor panel
• Responsible for odor panel
• Documentation of results in compliance with the company’s QA system

After an in-depth introduction to the technologies and systems used by Tempur Sealy, you will also be expected to participate actively in the development and testing of new ideas. Development projects are generally headed by the chemical engineer – you will however, also be involved, and you will be personally responsible for parts of the projects which relates to VOC and odor profiling.

Analytical Chemist

You may have a background as an analytical chemist or application chemist. You must have experience with GC/MS and related disciplines including statistical processing and data collection. It is an advantage that you have insight into the belonging techniques as static headspace, SPME and dynamic headspace.

It is a requirement that you are fascinated by analytical chemistry and wish to be involved in the operational aspects of the ongoing developmental work where theory, practical trials and a structured development process generate unique products and lead to an efficient production process.
