We are currently hiring for a Medical Advisor – Rare genetic Diseases, Hematology & Vaccines (all genders) in full-time, in either of our Nordics office locations (Norway – Asker, Sweden – Stockholm, Denmark – Vallensbaek, or Finland, Helsinki).
In the capacity of Medical Advisor, you will be the scientific expert in the therapeutic areas of Rare Genetic Diseases, Hematology, and Vaccines.
You will be the advocate for patient needs and offer medical expertise, for the assigned therapeutic areas and products, to external and internal stakeholders.
You will drive the development and execution of the local medical strategy plan and activities, in close alignment with the cross-functional core team, and foster cross-functional relationships, internally as well as externally, with key stakeholders.
Your tasks in detail:
Medical/Scientific Affairs
- Screen, review and analyze relevant scientific literature on an ongoing basis; generate summaries & critical assessments if appropriate and share with relevant internal stakeholders,
- Present clinical evidence to external and internal stakeholders in a non-promotional way, e.g. Key Opinion Leaders and reimbursement bodies, while determining their and patient needs to be-come a partner in improving health care,
- Engage with locally based Medical Association, e.g. Tropical Medicine and Travel Medicine organizations, to increase disease awareness,
- Provide medical input for development of promotion material and ensure scientific accuracy and validity of non-promotional and promotional material and compliance with Takeda standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and national laws,
- Communicate with Regional and Global Medical Affairs functions, as well as with locally based functions (e.g. Commercial, PVA) to ensure alignment in meeting stakeholder needs,
- Develop and implement local strategic medical plans, in alignment with brand plans and business plans, including developing Country Medical Communication Plan and support local communication activities,
- Execute/budget on locally based medical activities,
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), understand their needs to personalize medical strategy and be a valued partner,
- Provide medical expertise to local Patient Value & Access, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Affairs (e.g. create dossier),
- Drive the development and implementation of key medical activities, e.g. Advisory boards, medical education, and peer-to-peer training activities,
- Provide medical training for allocated therapeutic area / products to Commercial functions,
- Provide scientific input into marketing strategy and tactics,
- Provide timely, accurate and balanced answers to unsolicited medical inquiries,
- Ensure high level of ethics and compliance in all matters,
- Be accountable for keeping medical activities within budget
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Ensure alignment of medical activities with brand plan and strategic imperatives,
- Constantly drive awareness and communication of medical activities and distribution of insights to cross-functional team and other departments in the local organization,
- Participate and contribute to multiple core teams, brand planning and VBKAM; owner of medical strategy and activities
Data generation
- Drive local evidence-gap-analysis in alignment with Center of Excellence (CoE), Regional Europe & Canada Business (EUCAN), global functions and external stakeholders and propose studies to address the issues,
- Work closely with Center of Excellence (CoE) on study outlines and protocols for local MACS; contribute to study conduct, data analysis and disclosure, reporting/ publication and be point of contact to Investigators,
- Liaise with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and other vendors for Takeda sponsored global studies as appropriate, being able to do supervision to fulfil with regulations regarding local studies,
- Work to attract Takeda clinical trials within therapeutic areas,
- Support Investigator-Initiated-Research (IIRs) in alignment with global IIR-strategy and support investigators as needed,
- Act as communication link to authors of scientific publications about Takeda products.
Your profile:
- Advanced University degree in Medicine, Pharma or Lifesciences (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent),
- A minimum of years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry in the Nordics, ideally with experience in either/or/and Rare Diseases, Hematology, Vaccines,
- Deep knowledge of the Nordic healthcare environment and healthcare providers and organizations,
- Strong technical knowledge of the Real-World-Data (RWD)/ Real-World-Evidence (RWE) and Research & Development (R&D)/ Clinical Operations/ Clinical Trial processes,
- Good knowledge of compliance, medical ethics, and ability to navigate complex situations,
- Ability to work effectively in virtual teams and multi-disciplinary teams
