[xxxxx] Danmark is looking for candidates to the Permanent Board Member

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders/Læger uden Grænser. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.

Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff – bound together by our charter.

Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence, and neutrality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation (in Danish “ikke-erhvervsdrivende fond”).

The Board of MSF Denmark is composed of eight elected members (five voting members and three deputies), two co-opted members and the Permanent Board Member (in Danish “selvsupplerende medlem”).

The position is governed by provisions in the MSF Denmark by-laws as well as a legal requirement by regulatory authorities in Denmark.

All positions at the Board are unpaid and based on volunteering.

What we are looking for:

• First and foremost, the candidate should have experience from previous board work.
• Candidates should expect to be genuinely engaged with the Board, in the position for a longer continuous period – preferably five years or more.

Other expectations of the Permanent Board Member are as follows:

• Attends and engages in the monthly Board meetings, in the same way as ordinary board members. The Permanent Board Member has voting rights in the Board.
• Liaises with our legal team on matters related to by-laws and other legal requirements, that secure MSF DK’s continued presence in the Danish society.
• Assists in on-boarding new elected board members on a yearly basis.
• Takes ownership in obtaining “institutional memory” of MSF Denmark. MSF understands Institutional memory as the collective knowledge and learned experience of the organization and in this case the Board.
