A clinical position as consultant in allergology at the Allergy Clinic, Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as Clinical Professorship in Dermato-venerology with special focus on Anaphylaxis and Drug Allergy at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Allergy Clinic, Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultant post.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Allergy Clinic is a part of the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, it is the only highly specialized allergy clinic for adults in The Capital Region and has the greatest patient intake in Denmark. The clinic is committed to provide the highest level of patient care to patients suffering from all types of allergic diseases including patients with anaphylaxis to food, insect venom and drugs. More than half the referrals to the clinic relate to drug allergy, both immediate and delayed type drug allergy to a variety of drugs. All doctors in the clinic are specialists or subspecialists in allergology.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the Allergy Clinic
The clinic has a special focus on optimizing investigations in several areas of drug allergy, such as risk stratification and de-labelling penicillin allergy, and allergy to excipients and other rare allergens.
The clinic also includes the Danish Anaesthesia Allergy Center (DAAC) - the national reference centre for the investigation of perioperative allergic reactions - run as a collaboration between anaesthetists and allergists in the clinic. DAAC is internationally renowned for its state-of-the-art investigation programme and is one of the leading centres of its kind worldwide.
Research and teaching
With this new position the Allergy Clinic, Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching. The department has a very strong research profile in drug allergy and perioperative allergy and contribute to pre- and post-graduate teaching in drug allergy and anaphylaxis. The department also actively participates in simulation training of doctors in specialist training in Anaesthesiology. Research is carried out at all levels and the applicant will be expected to head clinical research in the clinic.
Qualifications
The applicant will be expected to be a board-certified specialist in Allergology or to be board certified in another specialty with allergology at subspecialist level. The applicant will be expected to head the multidisciplinary drug allergy team including the Danish Anaesthesia Allergy Centre.
Conditions
The applicant must send an application to both the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultant post) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to applicants who may already be employed as consultants at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Allergy Clinic, Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of Dermatology and Allergy. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Allergy Clinic, Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
