A position as consultant in Paediatrics at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Nordsjællands Hospital is open for appointment as soon as possible.
The clinical position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor of paediatrics at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Paediatrics, Nordsjællands Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Nordsjællands Hospital perform general treatment and care of infants, children, and teenagers in the northern part of The Capital Region, Denmark. The department covers a population of approximately 510.000 inhabitants and approximately 22% of these are below 18 years of age. Annually, the department has an activity of around 23.000 outpatient contacts of which 35% are acute and 15.000 contacts admitted for hospitalization of which 90% are acute. The hospital has above 4.000 births annually, and approximately 15% of these are admitted for hospitalization at the neonatal unit (premature from gestational age week 28 or ill newborns). The staff counts around 220 persons, among whom 30 are consultants, and 30 are junior doctors during their training.
The department has strong research tradition, and it has a scientific environment with five associate professors, several senior and junior researchers and supports currently 10 PhD students. The research includes more professions and is performed in close collaboration with several national and a number of international public institutions such as Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Karolinska Institute, Sweden. The hospital has a central department for clinical research, that collaborates and supports all clinical departments, at the hospital at the practical and strategic level of research.
Annually, the department serves as clinical educational post for approximately 100 medical students at their final semester (including examination in Paediatrics, Copenhagen University) and for future nurses and midwives
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
According to the directions of the National Board of Health, the Department covers the following general subspecialties within Paediatrics:
Neonatology*
Acute paediatrics
Cardiology
Allergology
Pulmonology
Nephro-urology
Haematology
Rheumatology*
Infectious diseases
Neurology*
Endocrinology
Gastroenterology*
Social paediatrics
Obesity*
The different professions work in a teambased structure related to the subspecialty. There is a close collaboration at the central level regarding highly specialized functions within all subspecialties, that are primarily served by Rigshospitalet, including oncology. Those marked with * are subspecialties covered by the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Nordsjællands hospital with special function at the regional level in the Capital area.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in paediatrics and clinical professor (chair) of Paediatric, the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescence wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Paediatrics.
Conditions
To be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the faculty, (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Nordsjællands Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of The Department of Paediatrics. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of Paediatrics and Adolescence. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department.
