A clinical position as senior researcher combined with a clinical professorship in Rheumatology with focus on physiotherapy in rehabilitation and physical activity at the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible. The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Rheumatology with focus on physiotherapy in rehabilitation and physical activity at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the clinical position.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital is a cross-disciplinary clinical department with its own research unit. The department is committed to making a significant scientific and clinical difference in treatment of patients. Research and development are of high priority in the department, and we are open to new development. As one of two clinical professors in the department, the new professor will integral in these approaches and efforts. In addition to the professors, the research unit consists of 3 senior researchers, several post docs and PhD students.
Clinical functions and focus areas for the position
The position as Senior Researcher entails an obligation to be in close contact with the daily clinical work and to carry out independent research, provide teaching and publish/communicate scientific findings. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vibrant research program that focuses on physiotherapy in rehabilitation and physical activity for different clinical patient groups. Furthermore, it involves an obligation to follow the clinical rehabilitation activities and to handle research management duties and requirements of the Department. The distribution between the different tasks may vary over time.
The professor’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Qualifications: Applicants can be a board-certified registered physiotherapist, or have other relevant exercise or medical science background.
In considering applications for the Professorship the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document outstanding credentials in research, an excellent track record of original scientific work within the area of physical activity generally.
The candidate should be able to:
The professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Conditions: In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the clinical position) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as senior researchers at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as senior researcher are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Association of Danish Physiotherapists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital.

- Academic assessments
- Department management duties in close contact with clinical activities
Qualifications: Applicants can be a board-certified registered physiotherapist, or have other relevant exercise or medical science background.
In considering applications for the Professorship the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document outstanding credentials in research, an excellent track record of original scientific work within the area of physical activity generally.

- Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of areas relevant to the position.
- Document the ability to lead interdisciplinary research.
- Manage research and other management functions, e.g. engage in academic activities, as well as knowledge transfer
- Provide research-based teaching
