Consultancy in Obstetrics & Gynaecology combined with a clinical professorship in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with Special Focus on Obstetrics.
A clinical position as consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology with Special Focus on Obstetrics at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position, the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
The Department accommodates multiple sections: a section for birthing with six delivery rooms, a section for pregnancies (4 beds), an outpatient clinic for pregnancies including ultrasound, a section for mothers and new-borns (14 beds and 14 cribs), a midwifery centre, and four outpatient clinic consultations. Moreover, we have an in-patient clinic for gynaecology (6 beds), a gynaecological outpatient clinic, a separate fertility outpatient clinic (Køge), and have access to a day surgery centre (1-2 operation theatres daily), and a central operation theatre (COP) (9 operation theatres a week). The operation theatres at the COP as well as at the day surgery theatre are all equipped with columns for laparoscopic surgery. Besides, the Department has access to robot surgery facilities.
Annually we have 2300 deliveries, 7,000 discharges and 60,000 outpatient clinic visits.
We perform 6,500 operations a year. The average hospital stay constitute 2.5 days.
We have about 170 employees.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital (Roskilde) is a regional referral centre for specialized obstetrical services for pregnant women having insulin-treated gestational diabetes mellitus, low-grade immunization, thyroid diseases, epilepsy, monochorial twins, severe gastrointestinal illness, severe preeclampsia, and threatening pre-term birth.
We cooperate closely with the Departments of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Holbæk, Slagelse, Nykøbing Falster Hospital.
Obstetrical patients requiring highly specialized procedures are referred to Rigshospitalet. Few patients (HIV positive pregnancies) are referred to Hvidovre Hospital.
Annually, we organize obstetrical skills training and do simulation training involving all midwifes and doctors.
We have developed a concept aiming to diminish caesarean rates for primiparae, and have recently published a Podcast aiming to show all aspects of a normal delivery as well as an uncomplicated caesarean to pregnant women.
The Department offer highly specialized gynaecological services for patients having endometrial or ovarian cancer, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, painful bladder syndrome, irritative bladder dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and/or (recurrence of) uterovaginal prolapse.
Research and teaching
Currently, we do research in Reproductive Health on human implantation and risk factors for fertility outcome, in biomarkers in Obstetrics, and in epidemiology aspects of Urogynaecology. We have five PhD students and educate 6-10 medical students in Gynaecology & Obstetrics per month.
With the new position as consultant in Obstetrics and clinical professor of Gynaecology & Obstetrics with special focus on Obstetrics, the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching in Obstetrics in our region and at our department with an emphasis on the normal delivery and associated lifestyle risk factors.
We have an ongoing large-scale study at our Fertility Clinic, how to improve living conditions imposing a risk to fertility prior to fertility treatment.
We wish a coming professor in Obstetrics to engage in research of life matters potentially compromising the normal pregnancy.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zealand University Hospital.
