Job description
Section of Pathobiological Sciences, Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, conducts research and teaching in biochemistry, cell biology, anatomy, physiology and pathology. Over the past decade stem cell biology has become a prominent research area including the establishment of the Stem Cell Center of Excellence in Neurology, BrainStem, in 2015. The Center has a particular scope of modelling neurodegeneration using induced pluripotent stem cells.
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

The successful applicant should be able to document:
Good interpersonal and communicative skills, as well as collaborative networking abilities within scientific communities, are expected.
It is expected that the candidate can communicate in Danish or will achieve this competence within the first two years of the appointment.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.

Job description

- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination, primarily in cell biology, anatomy and physiology mainly for student in the veterinary curriculum, animal science and biology/biotechnology
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:
- Research qualifications achievable in a position as associate professor or equivalent within stem cell biology with particular focus on induced pluripotent stem cells and disease modelling
- Proven track record of acquiring independent funding
- International research qualifications e.g. acquired through extended stays abroad
- Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen’s teacher training program for assistant professors is required or must be completed within the first year of appointment
- Research-based teaching of PhD students, including experience in course organization
- Documented experience in teaching cell biology, anatomy and physiology
- Teaching experience in the fields of veterinary pathology and/or biochemistry will be considered as an asset
