The University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Section of Social Medicine, Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences to commence 1 August 2020 or as soon as possible.

Job description
The position will be attached to the Section of Social Medicine. The section addresses current societal challenges such as: health problems in socially vulnerable population groups and neighbourhoods, functional limitations and multi-morbidity in the ageing population, inequity in the use of health services and rehabilitation and health consequences of psychosocial stressors in the working environment and private life. Complex interventions based on detailed knowledge about target populations and their needs, are executed to develop co-created solutions to important societal challenges. Furthermore, the section conducts evaluations of the implementation and outcomes of these interventions using a mixed method research approach. The section develops and employs a wide variety of epidemiological, psychometric, demographic and qualitative methods in population and patient based cohort studies and intervention studies. Further, the successful applicant will be expected to build up collaborations with national and international researchers outside the department and to be actively involved in strengthening the research area.
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
The teaching activities are placed at the BSc and MSc in Public Health and Health Informatics, the MSc in Medicine and Master of Public Health as well as relevant PhD courses.

The teaching activities are placed at the BSc and MSc in Public Health and Health Informatics, the MSc in Medicine and Master of Public Health as well as relevant PhD courses.
Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:
- A MSc in Public Health, Anthropology, Medicine or similar education
- Qualifications in research within complex interventions and evaluation with focus on socially vulnerable population groups
- The qualified applicants have documented research experience within mixed methods
- The qualified applicants have research-based teaching and supervision experience at university level within public health relevant topics
- Research qualifications within the subject area at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
- Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
