The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation (KADK) invites applications for a 3-year part-time position as a teaching assistant with a focus on spatial and interior design and related subject areas for teaching within the Master's degree programme Spatial Design.
The vacant position, which is affiliated with the Institute of Architecture and Design, should ideally be filled as of 1 August 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Institute of Architecture and Design
The Institute of Architecture and Design is a cross-disciplinary educational and research environment. Taking its starting point in a Danish tradition for working with design in a spatial and architectural context, the institute has an ambition to set a new agenda in the development of business and competence areas for architects and designers. Sustainability and social awareness have a key place as socially relevant guiding concepts for teaching and research at the institute, whose subject fields are related to production, consumption, market and society, where it is necessary to accept responsibility and take a stand on resources and social issues.
The institute consists of two Bachelor's programmes, four Master's programmes, and a professional Bachelor's programme. These form the framework for the professional research and development environments across design and architecture. At the institute, teaching and research focus on architecture, entrepreneurship, spatial and interior design, and furniture, textile and clothing design. Finally, the Craft programme at Bornholm and the School of Architecture's IT and drawing teaching also form part of the institute.
Spatial Design is a Master's degree programme, which educates both design and architecture students based on issues related to the field of interior design. The programme has approx. 90 Danish and international students spread across two year groups. Teaching is conducted in English. About the position
The position as a teaching assistant will consist of teaching and lectures as well as supervision of students at drawing tables and workstations. The primary teaching and supervision will be placed within the areas of spatial design, interior/exterior, exhibition design and similar. You will also be responsible for organising assignments and participate in critiques.
To a limited extent, you may be required to handle other tasks, and by further agreement, you may be asked to participate in teachers' meetings, study trips and assessments.
You can expect close collaboration with the other teachers within the degree programme. As a teaching assistant, you will teach both individually and in teams that cut across different fields of expertise and subject areas.
Qualification requirements
You have a relevant education at Master's level, as a minimum. Alternatively, you can document at Master's level via long-term education, knowledge, skills, competences and professional experience within the position's specialist field.

Apart from a visionary approach to the field, importance will also be attached to prior experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration and development in teams as well as a faculty for participating in such work.

Salary and employment conditions
Employment and remuneration will be in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance's circular of 17 January 2001 on teaching paid by the hour. Employment will also be in accordance with the applicable job structure for artistic and scientific staff at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation, Aarhus School of Architecture and Design School Kolding – Executive Order no. 92 of 24 August 2015.
This is a part-time position where you are guaranteed a minimum of 100 hours per study year. The maximum number of hours per year will be 780, to be agreed before the start of each study year. The study year runs from 1 September to 30 June the following year. Preparation during August must be expected.
The position is for a fixed term, which will expire without further notice on 31 July 2023.

The selection is based on an overall assessment of which applicants best meet the criteria in the job advertisement based on the submitted application material. All applicants will then be notified whether their application has been selected for assessment, and the selected applicants will be informed of the members of the assessment committee. The assessment committee will assess the selected applicants in relation to the specific position. When the committee has completed its assessment, each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the assessment.

- Have a high level of reflection and the ability to develop the specialist field of spatial and interior design in relation to both an architectural and a design context
- Have good interpersonal skills
- Be fluent in spoken and written English
