We are looking for a highly motivated Research assistant to support our efforts in improving early detection of Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease to commence September 1, 2021 or after agreement.
Background
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010 and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk.

The Hansen Group investigates the human genome and the human global microbiome to characterize the impact of these genomes on health and disease and to identify interactions between the host and the microbiome. You can read more about the Hansen Group here.
Your job
We are looking for a Research assistant who can lead the collaboration with the Department of Clinical Immunology in early detection of biomarkers of Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Based upon knowledge and experience, we expect the candidate to contribute to scientific discussions, interpretation of data and the preparation of scientific publications. The candidate will have a great opportunity to advance his/her basic research skills. Based upon his/her performance, the successful candidate may also have the opportunity to seek a PhD position in the Hansen group.

The place of employment is at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as research assistant is a full-time and fixed-term position for 1 year, with the possibility of extension as PhD-student based on performance. Expected starting date is September 1, 2021 or after agreement. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Research assistant with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
- You are a MD having experience in clinical science, clinical practice and treatment of Type 2 diabetes
- You have experience in clinical practice and the theory of immunology and the use and interpretation of viscoelastic hemostatic assays
- You have an active interest in the underlying mechanisms of the development and metabolic consequences of Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- You have an active interest in the role of inflammation in the development of Type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- You have proven an ability to plan and execute a research project with multiple participating institutions
- You have previous research experience and published in international peer-reviewed journals
- Good English skills, written and spoken

- Service-minded and good collaboration skills
- Good communication skills
