The University seeks to appoint an associate professor of Clinical Proteomics to Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) to commence as soon as possible.

Job description
The Clinical Proteomics group at CPR, headed by Matthias Mann undertakes a bio-medical research program to characterize the plasma, cerebrospinal fluid and tissue proteome for patient phenotyping. The aim is to improve diagnosis and develop more individualized therapies by establishing a clinical proteomics workflow that combines advanced imaging techniques, artificial intelligence (AI)-guided data analysis with high sensitive proteomic profiling of patient specimens.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
Required qualifications
Six overall criteria apply for associate professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates. The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Terms of employment
The position is a permanent position.
The average weekly working hours are 37hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

Job description

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Developing and integrating a clinical proteomics pipeline for identifying biological markers of metabolic disorder and cancer, including publication/academic dissemination
- Interdisciplinary research coordination between the host laboratory and Matthias Mann´s group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany
- Combining data-rich imaging and AI-based image analysis with high sensitivity mass spectrometry
- Help developing, strengthening and promoting the strong technology-driven platforms and facilities network in the Copenhagen biosciences research community
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of students and researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
Required qualifications

- Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
- Research qualifications achievable in a position as associate professor or equivalent within the subject area, including international research experience in discovery biology
- Strong background in technology development and/or application of quantitative microscopy, MS-based proteomics and data analytics
- Experience in initiating and maintaining interdisciplinary collaborations on a national and international level
- Excellent scientific track record demonstrated by high-quality publications in peer reviewed international journals
- Experience in supervision of junior researchers and technical staff
- Excellent skills in scientific writing, communication and leadership
- Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
- Research-based teaching
