Center for Translational Neuromedicine (CTN) at the University of Copenhagen has one opening for an MRI physicist with a focus on small animal research at the Panum NMR facility. The NMR center facilitates neuroscientific and metabolic research, including ongoing and planned research into the role of CSF/ISF in the clearance of metabolites and macromolecules from the brain, metabolomics of stroke, cerebral blood flow and metabolism in combination with optogenetics, and glia progenitor cells a treatment for demyelinating diseases.
The candidate will be highly involved in the facilitation of ongoing and new research, the development and optimization of MR pulse sequences, as well as pursuing own research. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the NMR facility, education and supervision of students and fellows as well as setting up an MRI/MRS teaching track for the junior investigators rotating through the MRI laboratory. The candidate will be starting writing grants for pursuit of independent funding as guided by the leadership.
The Panum NMR Center is a part of Center for Translational Neuromedicine and is responsible for the running of a Bruker 9.4T USR 94/30 small animal magnet controlled by ParaVision software and includes a large array of coils, including 1H- and 31P-cryoprobes. The NMR Center supports research from CTN as well as research by other laboratories at the University of Copenhagen and external collaborators.
The candidate will be part of Division of Glial Therapeutics within CTN. CTN currently has 45 employees and students, divided into two labs. CTN is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and is located at Panum. The Center comprises modern laboratories and excellent facilities within neuroscience.

Qualifications
We are looking for a dedicated MRI Physicist with a PhD in an engineering discipline, applied physics/mathematics, or a PhD closely related to the field of MRI. Experience with small animal NMR, MRI sequence optimization, and pulse-sequence development is required. The successful candidate will also possess excellent collaboration skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track-record for publications. Experience in working in a multidisciplinary research environment will be preferred. Experience in pulse sequence development for ParaVision is preferred as well as proficiency in scripting and/or programming.
Appointment as associate professor depends on research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways.
Job description
The successful candidate is expected to publish in high-impact journals. The candidate will also supervise students and postdocs as well as users of the MR facility. The candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership skills. In addition, the successful candidate will do academic assessments if needed.
Terms of employment
The position is a 2-year full-time position. Employment will commence summer 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
The position will be at the level of associate professor.
Work place
You will be part of CTN located Blegdamsvej 3B, DK-2200 Copenhagen N, Denmark. Your primary work place will be at the 9.4T NMR facility which is governed by CTN.
