Job description
The candidate will establish an internationally competitive research group within Neuro-Medicinal Chemistry. The challenge of the research group is to define, initiate and lead ambitious medicinal chemistry research projects within the field of discovery of small-molecule ligands for protein-protein interactions (PPIs) in the CNS at the highest international level. The research group will establish strong collaborations nationally and internationally to fuel research and development, teaching and education. The research group will be affiliated to the Discipline of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology and affiliated to the Discipline of Peptides and Proteins.
The work will take advantage of and continuously develop state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry methodology used in ligand design (e.g., fragments-based drug design, computational ligand design, and structure-based ligand design) The responsibilities of the Associate Professor will primarily be to:

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Desired qualifications
In addition, it will add positively if the candidate has documented experience with innovation, technology transfer procedures, patent writing, and commercialization of scientific results.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Develop, organize and conduct research-based teaching within the field of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and topics related to pharmaceutical sciences, including associated examination
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Engage in outreach and innovation activities both within the Department and toward academia and industry in general

Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:
- Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
- Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
- Research-based teaching
The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Desired qualifications
- Document a scientific track record within the field of discovery of small-molecule entities for PPIs in the CNS
- Document experience with state-of the art methodologies in medicinal chemistry, in particular fragment-based drug design, computational medicinal chemistry, and structure-based design
- Document experience with qualifying compounds for in vivo animal studies
- Develop, organise and conduct research-based teaching
- Document ability to attract funding
