The Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) seeks excellent candidates for an associate professorship in Practical Theology and Dogmatics linked to the Carnal-project on Ecological Ethics.
Position Details:
Job description
The position involves 50 % research obligations on the theme “Meat shame in an ecologized ethics: Phenomenological and empirical perspectives”, and 50% teaching and administration obligations at the section of Systematic Theology within the fields of Practical Theology and Dogmatics.
The research will be conducted as part of as part of the research project CARNAL: Eco-Ethical Articulations of Body, Meat, and Flesh. More information about the project is available here https://veluxfoundations.dk/da/kernegruppebevillinger-2023
The central objective of the research project is to develop new conceptualizations of the relation between humanity and nature in times of ecological crises. CARNAL expands the ethical tradition of self-care and care for other humans into an ecologized ethics of care. We focus on everyday dilemmas and options for change in the areas of consumption, biodiversity, and everyday human interactions in ecological networks. CARNAL is placed at the Faculty of Theology, and its methodology aims to coordinate the fields of Anthropology and Theology.
Developing existing shame theories within the specificities of the green transition, the research project concerns social forms of meat shame at Danish folk high schools with distinct food policies. Ethical concerns may include animal welfare, the climate crisis, and the difficulty of changing habits in everyday life.
Candidates are expected to have a background in Theology with documented competencies in teaching as well academic work on shame theories.
The candidate must be fluent in speech and writing in one of the Scandinavian languages.

Qualification requirements
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in theology.
Experience with individual and collaborative research applications must also be included in the application, as well as a description of the research projects the applicant wishes to develop as part of their employment.
Moreover, the applicant is expected to prove his/her competence in teaching in Practical Theology and Dogmatics linked to the Carnal-project on Ecological Ethics at the Faculty of Theology on the level of associate professors. Documentation must take the form of a pedagogical competence profile and diploma of training in university teaching, alongside proof of experience in planning and developing courses as well as supervision.
Finally, the applicant should have experience from academic counsels and boards and other efforts to strengthen the collegiate and student environment respectively.
The associate professor is expected to divide their efforts equally between teaching and research (including administration and communication). Competence in both areas is therefore essential (more information below).

Applicants will be selected on the basis of an overall assessment of the applicants that best match the recruitment-needs of the Faculty as described in the advertisement for the post. This is compared with the applicant's research and teaching profile as set out in the application, CV incl. list of publication, teaching portfolio and any research/development plan.
All applicants will be immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert Assessment Committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and when the committee has completed its assessment, each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicants themselves.

Terms of appointment and salary will be in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The salary range starts at DKK [42,200], (EUR5,600,) + a 17,1 % contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
