The Department of Business & Management (DBM), University of Southern Denmark welcomes applications for a new position as Teaching Assistant Professor. The position is located in Odense, but teaching may also be required at other campuses. The position is vacant from 1st May 2022 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Who are your new colleagues?

DBM works both quantitatively and qualitatively to build bridges between applied and fundamental research. The Department houses seven vibrant research units (Accounting, Centre for Integrative Innovation Management, Consumption, Culture & Commerce, Finance, Management of People, International Business & Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Organization Design). Our starting point is the cooperation between markets, organizations and individuals, and our research is wide-ranging from evolutionary organizational models and innovative business development, to accounting and finance, and to new exotic forms of consumption. It is our ambition to be international leaders in these areas and to achieve synergy between research, teaching and knowledge-sharing.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate should have a Master degree within social sciences or a cross-disciplinary degree with a significant social science contribution.

The successful candidate will be engaged in teaching central introdutory courses on the bachelor programme in Economics and Business Administration, the bachelor programme in business, language and culture, and the bachelor programme in Market and Management Anthropology as well as supervision of bachelor projects and project reports. The successful candidate must be able to teach in Danish.

The teaching assistant professor is expected to take on an extensive teaching related task as the coordinator for the bachelor programme in Economics and Business Administration (HA) at campus Odense. The HA-coordinator participates in the HA Forum at the SDU Business School, which safeguards the implementation of the HA education across campuses. At the local level the HA coordinator will among others have the following tasks:

  • Ensuring the development of the courses offered at the programme
  • Initiating and coordinating a continuing dialogue with students
  • Securing coordination among all who play a role within our teaching activities e.g. our educators,our head of department and our vice-head of department
  • Securing outside involvement in our teaching activities through guestspeakers from public and privat organizations as well as the business community.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to the social and academic lives at the department and should thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment that seeks to contribute to a broad academic dialogue. To fulfill the requirements of the position, the candidate chosen is expected to be physically present at the department on a regular basis.

Appointment to the position requires a PhD or equivalent and will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Assessment of applications will be done under existing Appointment Order for universities.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.

Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.
