The Automation & Robotics Warehouse manager is the thought leader to drive the automation and innovation of our Contract Logistics Operations, focusing on flow and fulfillment warehousing. The owner is responsible, in partnership with the regional/local operations execution leaders and customers to drive the future of warehouse automation and scalability and to make us agile and a “world-class” contract logistic operator. The ownership starts from innovation/automation idea to identifying the potential solutions, driving the decision and implementation and is an enabler for delivering operations multiple products for our customers.

Vision and Thought Leadership

  • Responsible for thought leadership and long-term vision, ideating and maturing new automation and innovation concepts jointly with Customers, Vertical Heads, Regional Warehouse & Distribution Product Managers and Operational and Tech Functions in line with the integrator Strategy.

  • Partners closely with Customers/Operations to understand and qualify their needs and create solutions that profitably address market opportunities and industry trends, creating a competitive advantage for Maersk.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for defining long and short-term roadmap of our operations automation and key innovation areas.

  • Responsible for identifying the key innovation areas based on our customers need, the selection of the transforming those into profitable solutions.

  • Ensures that the automation solution is fit for purpose and standardized on global level and operating at the lowest cost to serve.

  • Responsible to establish the framework and governance and execution of the project management, update of the project status and driving decision making.

  • Partners with central, regional operational and business teams to drive an aligned roadmap.

  • Responsible for driving annual and quarterly automation & innovation funding initiatives

  • Ensure that technology, engineering, and operational teams have a clear understanding of the solution requirements and partners to ensure that the automation / innovation is supporting our needs and supported by the technology infrastructure.

  • Responsible for defining warehouse designs and standard templates.

  • Listens to external and internal customer feedback to drive solution improvements and innovation.

  • Owns the standardization of the solution and the end-to-end lifecycle

  • Partners with customers to build seamless integration of the Maersk solutions.

  • Partners with Marketing, Sales and Regional teams to capture customer & market needs.

  • Partners with Tech Platform Owners to create technical requirements.

  • Partners with other Business Product Owners to define strategy for integrated solutions.


What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a technical discipline.

  • 7+ years of operations management experience with a focus on automation innovation initiatives in warehouse operations, including both hardware and software components.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs, and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners.

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and projects on tight deadlines.

  • Experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop a business case.

  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop project business cases, and measure success.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives

  • Strong proficiency to communicate and negotiate in English.


Additional preferable qualifications

  • Experience in interaction design and/or human-automation interaction.

  • Experience with accessibility design for hardware

  • MBA or Master’s degree.

  • Experience in automation/robotics solution evaluation and driving and software development.

  • Experience in product management with advanced and/or emerging technology.

  • Strong bias for action; ability to create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
