The Danish agricultural company, GreenPeas A/S is looking for a self-sufficient and independent operating farmer to take care of the fields in Portugal to produce fresh hand-picked peas.
The production is taking place in the southern part of the country near the Atlantic Ocean in the area between Comporta and Odemira and managed by the subsidiary company of GreenPeas in Portugal.
The production is carried out and controlled in multiple steps over the year, to have fresh peas available all the time, no matter the weather and soil condition.
About the role
It is a pioneer work, and the production must be set up and carried out in connection with the production in other countries, especially with the main production in Denmark.
Traveling for work in Denmark or to other countries for short periods to exchange experiences and to be aligned with the production concept of the company must be expected.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and take care of the practical field operation in coordination with the agricultural engineer.
- Take care of the field equipment (operation, maintenance, repairs).
- Participate in the harvesting season with transportation, loading/unloading pallets, technical support, etc.
Requirements:
- Self-sufficient and proactive working.
- Professional operating of most kinds of agricultural/horticultural types of equipment.
- Flair for self-sufficient maintenance and repairs.
- Tractor driver license.
- Spraying certificate, forklift certificate, and truck driver license
- Linguistically proficient in English and possibly other European languages.
Personal profile:
- Proactive with a high level of self-control and mental strength.
- Strong will to pursue goals without limitation from traditional thinking.
- Open-minded and committed.
- Positive and accepting view of life and humanity.
To apply for this position, the candidates don’t need to have any knowledge about pea production, but practical and professional knowledge about general field operations and crop processing must be possessed. It is important to be flexible and independent working, and able to make own planning following the cultivation needs in a responsible way.
