Contract Logistics (CL) Student Assistant : Growth Forecasting

Opportunity

This student assistant position will provide you with the opportunity to learn, apply your knowledge, gain commercial awareness, and enhance competencies/ skills that will prepare you for your future career.

Purpose

We are looking for a student assistant to join the organization who can support developing our Growth Forecasting in a collaborative manner. The right candidate will be a trusted partner to Network Design, Technology (Automation), Market Insights and Product. Together with this theam you will drive the process of growth forecasting to ensure we are i) establishing the baseline market share at each vertical level (defined as shipments fulfilled/total shipment transported by Maersk Ocean), ii) determining the 5 year ambition for market share at each vertical level and iii) deriving the growth target which should automatically provide an output in square meters needed for warehousing network design / investment proposals.

This student assistant role will require a good understanding of modeling, data processing and analytical skills and experience collaborating across various teams.

As CL student assistant, you will have a variety of responsibilities, which includes, but are not limited to, following areas:

Growth Forecasting

  • Support managing customer demand such as i) how our product capabilities can drive our demand growth and ii) setting financial targets with the verticals.
  • Plan long term facility utilisation and capacity, our CEN CL top-down demand outlook needs to be met by bottom-up regional plans to create the right friction/ambition in our planning processes.
  • Searching/testing/validation of data sources and models to ensure growth planning is done at highest level.
  • Drive CL market analyses to define the Maersk ambition level for the CL growth.

Requirements

  • Ideally Logistics Industry knowledge obtained academically or during previous internships, assignments etc.
  • First experience with data processing obtained academically or during previous internships, assignments etc.
  • Strategic and hands-on.
  • Good understanding of modelling / capable of leveraging systems and perform modelling with limited supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, business, accounting, engineering, or related field required. Master / MBA student advantageous.
  • Experience in tool development, ideally logistics.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced organization, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools (Excel, word, VBA, etc.),
  • Proficient in data mining and data querying using an array of tools/platforms such as SQL, Python, R
  • Solid computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Excel, Power BI.
  • Not afraid to speak their mind
  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written in English
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player with a collaborative mindset
  • Self-motivated, who can complete tasks without supervision and who can evaluate and manage risks appropriately
